Surat Mehta,
Head,
SDLG India.
SDLG’s wheel loader range is generating strong momentum in the Indian construction equipment market.
SDLG currently offers the 3T rated L933 and L936 wheel loaders along with the 4T L946 and 5T rated L958F wheel loaders in India. The L933, L936 and L946 are all relatively new models in India. With regards to SDLG wheel loaders, there is a growing demand for them in the road sector, material handling and sea ports, says Surat Mehta, Head, SDLG India. Excerpts from the interview
What are the key features built-in in your range to optimize fuel efficiency, and help reduce cost per tonne and safety?
In 2017, during the first year the L933 was available in India, one in three wheel loaders SDLG sold was the 3T model. With a simpler setup, the L933 is targeted at low-duty applications and features enhanced front and rear frames that have undergone 100,000-cycle stress tests. The L933 also has a fully-hydraulic, load-sensing steering system that offers easy operation and accurate steering. The wheel loader has a maximum dumping height of 2,950 mm, a dumping distance of 1,050 mm and an operating weight of 10,150 kg.
Both the L936 and L946 were launched at Excon in December 2017. Powered by a BS III Weichai Deutz engine, the L936 features a fully-hydraulic, load-sensing steering system. The steering system offers light and quick steering and reliable energy-saving properties. Similarly, the L946 features a BS III Weichai Deutz engine. The 4T loader offers the best dumping height and fuel efficiency as well as the lowest cost per ton in its class in India.
SDLG machines are built to stand the test of time. Our robust and reliable equipment delivers greater uptime to customers. This includes using proven technology, such as the Tier III engines, which deliver lower lifecycle costs to customers through efficient engine design.
Could you talk about the bucket options on offer?
We have the right bucket for the right application. For instance heavy duty buckets for mines, general purpose buckets for aggregates, light material buckets for low density cargo etc.
What are the attachments available for the wheel loader?
For SDLG wheel loaders, we offer attachments like the wood grappler, log forks, side dump buckets (for tunnelling jobs) and pallet fork and side dump buckets which are tailored for different models for the application.
What is the current overall demand – supply scenario for wheel loaders from different verticals?
With regards to SDLG wheel loaders; there is a growing demand for them in the road sector, material handling and sea ports. For example, The L958F is popular with customers looking for machines to load materials at coal mines or transport aggregates at crushing plants. Customers look for larger-capacity wheel loaders, like the L958F, to offer them more productivity.
The 5T wheel loader has a bucket capacity of 3.2m3 and a maximum dumping distance of 1.12 m. The Deutz Tier III engine has a rated power of 162 kW at 2,000 rpm. The L958F also features a cooling system designed with an area-enlarged radiator, and optimized inlet and outlet air channels that provide high cooling efficiency — a feature that will be highly useful in the Indian heat.
