Leaders speak…

Gurunath Kulkarni, Vice President, Shandong Heavy Industry India, said, “The participation at Bauma has always been fascinating, and this time is no different. People across industries, from tooling to equipment manufacturers, are present, reflecting the growth and readiness of Indian manufacturers. The response has been very positive, and it highlights the industry’s progress and potential. Exhibitions like these provide a great platform to showcase products and connect with stakeholders. The key focus for our launch has been on construction machines, particularly those aligned with the Stage-V emission norms, which are set to be implemented on January 1st, 2025. We have displayed all our Stage-V compliant products. Apart from construction equipment, we are showcasing our mining product, which powers IOT & 90T Trucks for overburden, as well as our driveline and gearbox solutions. Our primary focus is to convert more OEMs, especially in the India region, where we currently work with three OEMs. We see this as a significant opportunity to expand our collaborations and grow our reach in the market.”

Jameson Mendonca, Power Generation Business Leader, Cummins India, said, “The primary highlight remains our CPCB 4 Plus genset launch, which we introduced earlier in June 2023. Cummins was the first to launch the entire CPCB 4+ range well in advance, even though the original launch date was scheduled for July 2023. Initially, the adoption of CPCB 4+ gensets was slow, particularly limited to the NCR regions due to specific conditions. But we focused on being ready with the right technology at the right time, ensuring a smooth rollout of this cleaner, more efficient range. From the initial days that we have seen, there has been a good uptake of the CPCB 4 Plus range.

Rajesh Atreja, Head of Sales, India, Danfoss Power Solutions, said, “bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2024 was a landmark event for the construction, mining, and infrastructure industries. The first thing one observes at such shows is the turnout of visitors – and it was quite significant, highly participatory, and better than any previous versions. Danfoss team had meaningful business interactions with several OEMs and channel partners and also got networking opportunities with other industry professionals. Overall, it was an exciting and productive event for everyone involved, driving forward the future of India’s infrastructure. Several major trends like Sustainability and Green Technologies, Digitalization and Automation, Smart Construction etc. were highlighted during the show, reflecting the evolving landscape of the industry. Most of the manufacturers showcased their BSV (Bharat Stage V) range of products, which come into effect from Jan’25. It was interesting to see that apart from complying with the stringent emission norms, these companies have worked extensively on improving the fuel efficiency and performance of the new machine models launched during the show. Electrification was another major highlight at the show with several OEMs displaying their electric or hybrid range of Cranes, mini excavators, scissor lifts etc. reflecting the industry’s shift towards sustainable and eco-friendly solutions.”

Anuj Kathuria, President – India, JK Tyre, said, “Our market strategy revolves around understanding customer requirements and developing products that offer a strong value proposition. By providing cost-effective solutions that combine performance and equipment-specific optimization, we aim to set ourselves apart. For example, we now have over 300 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) in the OTR segment, ensuring a comprehensive portfolio for diverse customer needs.”

Alok Kumar, Associate Director & Head - Sales & Service, Rehlko (Kohler Energy), said, “The focus this year is centered around the upcoming emission norms, specifically BS-V. This involves offering engines that are cleaner and greener while maintaining compactness. Our goal is to deliver products that comply with these norms while ensuring high torque performance to enhance productivity and yield. In addition, this focus addresses the CAPEX (capital expenditure) and OPEX (operational expenditure) benefits for manufacturers in construction and agricultural equipment. By designing compact yet efficient products, we aim to meet the demands of modern infrastructure projects while promoting environmental sustainability. These efforts reflect our commitment to supporting a greener future for the industry”.
