How do you describe current state of construction equipment industry?

I’m incredibly optimistic about India’s prospects over the next decade! The vast infrastructure developments underway indicate an abundance of opportunities, not just for us but for everyone. The burgeoning growth in this sector suggests an explosive demand that’ll pave the way for numerous businesses to thrive. I’m particularly enthusiastic about the construction and related industries, seeing a promising and prosperous trajectory for at least the next ten years.

How is Mtandt different from other competitors in the industry?

While I can’t speak for our competitors, here’s what sets us apart: with 50 years of experience under our belt, we’ve honed an in-depth understanding of our customers’ needs. Our strength lies in getting it right the first time, backed by over 150 million hours of collective knowledge. This expertise enables us to grasp your requirements comprehensively and ensure accurate delivery from the outset. What defines us is our commitment to providing exceptional customer experiences, founded on reliability and trustworthiness. We may not claim to be entirely different, but this is who we are.

Can you brief us on your technological advancements you have done in your machines?

Our customers are increasingly seeking eco-friendly machinery, favouring greener alternatives over those reliant on fossil fuels. That’s why we’ve developed an extensive range of oil-free equipment to meet this demand. Even our larger, heavier machinery is now available in electric versions. By transitioning to axil drives, we’ve achieved a remarkable 40% reduction in fuel consumption. These improvements reflect just a fraction of our efforts. Our machines boast high-performance capabilities, surpassing their previous benchmarks. For instance, our platform basket, which previously carried 230kg, now supports an impressive 340kg load. These enhancements signify the strides we’ve made in advancing our machinery.

Can you brief us on your initiative of shipping 450 machines in 24 hours?

In our manufacturing facility, we produce one scissor lift every 8 minutes and one boom lift every 17 minutes. To challenge ourselves, we set a goal to deliver a total of 450 container loads of machines within a single day.

From India?

This originates from our primary factory in China. While a limited selection is manufactured in India, the majority comes from China. Additionally, a smaller selection is produced in Germany and Italy, with a considerable range also manufactured in the US.

Can you give us information about your manufacturing facility in India?

We’ve established a cutting-edge greenfield facility spanning 5 acres in Jhevar. This facility is dedicated to global manufacturing. Here, we specialize in producing truck-mounted booms, large booms, and aluminium scaffolding catering not only to the Indian market but the global market as well.

Since yours is a boom lifting and lifting aerial work platform. How do you deal with safety?

Safety is our utmost priority. Everything we offer must guarantee 100% safety without exceptions. Whether it’s a product for sale or rent, our commitment remains unwavering: absolute safety. How do we ensure this? Every single one of our products undergoes rigorous testing against the most stringent international and national standards. In cases where national standards are absent, we adhere strictly to international benchmarks. Our stance on safety is non-negotiable—we refuse to compromise, not even by 0.01. If it cannot be achieved safely, it simply will not be done.

What are your skilling initiatives as well as how do you manage the equilibrium between cost and quality of your machines?

Twenty-five years ago, every lift necessitated a lift operator. Even further back, about thirty to thirty-five years ago, most cars required an independent driver; the owner didn’t typically drive the car themselves. This was primarily due to the nature of the cars back then—they weren’t power-driven and demanded considerable effort, lacking user-friendliness. Lifts, too, were somewhat complex and prone to frequent issues, resulting in occasional breakdowns that required manual intervention.

However, the machines we introduce today are designed to be user-friendly and robust. We assure our customers that within two days, we can train anyone to operate these machines efficiently, even in the most challenging situations. Through our partnership with IESC and NSDC, we certify operators, eliminating the necessity for hiring lift operators or car drivers. Modern cars are power-driven, air-conditioned, and exceedingly comfortable, reducing the need for manual drivers in most cases.

Our equipment typically accommodates a maximum of two people, with one spot usually taken by the operator. This setup results in a 50% decrease in machine efficiency. We advocate for eliminating the need for an operator by providing training and certification. Within just two days of training with us, your personnel can proficiently operate the machines and even handle minor maintenance issues, should they arise.

Contemporary machines are equipped with smart and intuitive interfaces, requiring the pressing of only 2-3 buttons to execute commands. They respond promptly to instructions, simplifying operations. Repairing these machines no longer demands getting one’s hands dirty or using a screwdriver; it’s a far more streamlined process now.

How do you foresee the customer preferences and changes?

There exists a crucial need to enlighten our customers. The primary hurdle lies in customer awareness—many remain unaware of the incredible convenience, simplicity, and resilience of the new machinery. This prevailing mindset assumes a necessity for operators when, in fact, these modern machines are designed for easy operation. Our task involves guiding and educating our customers through this paradigm shift. A significant initiative is underway in collaboration with the Tata Group. Previously, they had a considerable workforce solely dedicated to machine operation on-site. I emphasized that having an additional thousand individuals on the job site equates to a thousand additional risks. Every extra person present adds an inherent risk to the environment. By eliminating these thousand roles, we directly mitigate the potential for a thousand injuries or mishaps.

Our focus lies in empowering those directly involved in operational tasks through proper training.
