Arvind K Garg, Executive Vice-President & Head, Construction & Mining Machinery, Larsen & Toubro Limited has been elected as the President of Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA) for the term 2017-19. This was decided at the ICEMA’s Annual General Meeting held in New Delhi recently. He has earlier served as the Vice-President for 2015-17. As the new President of ICEMA, Garg wants to take it to the global stage for mutually beneficial engagements, encourage induction of environment-friendly technologies amongst the CE manufacturers and is in favour of advocacy for tax rationalization of this industry, impacting a very large workforce. He shall facilitate Indian CE industry representation in international shows like Bauma Munich, Intermat&ConExpo and steer major exhibitions/trade fairs on the domestic front such as Excon 2017, BC India, ConMac& IMME.

Garg is committed to the journey of transforming ICEMA into a strong industry association, whose voice is heard, acted upon and to ensure it becomes the most credible face of the Indian CE Industry. His approach has been to build a strong consensus amongst members and would continue to closely collaborate with them towards this end.
Garg, a graduate in Mechanical Engineering and an alumnus of Indian Institute of Management-Ahmedabad and London Business School, is an industry veteran of over three decades. During this journey, he has held important responsibilities and played a pivotal role in expandingand consolidating L&T’s Construction & Mining Equipment Business.

As part of L&T’s senior management team, Garg has built a world-class organization with strong focus on market leadership, product innovation and customer support. He is closely associated with global majors like Komatsu, Scania and Sandvik to usher in latest technologies to the Indian market. As a Director at L&T Construction Equipment Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of L&T, he has been championing the Make-in-India mission with the introduction of indigenously-designed and manufactured road machinery.

ICEMA, affiliated to CII, is represented by all leading OEMs, distributors and finance companies engaged in the Indian Construction & Mining Industry, which serves the large infrastructure sector. ICEMA has been at the forefront in engaging with various ministries, national-level institutions and authorities to provide strategic inputs at the apex level on policy matters and technical issuesaffecting the Construction Equipment industry.
ICEMA regularly organizes conferences and seminars to discuss important issues of common interest.

It also actively participates in organizing industry-focused exhibitions to showcase latest technological deve­lopments in the Construction Equipment Industry. It has been engaging with overseas associations to learn best practices, help develop tradeandmutual cooperation in the
CE Industry.
