Arx commenced operations in 2020 September and we have kept a YOY growth of 50% since the beginning
The outlook for the Indian Construction and Mining equipment industry looks very promising. The Macro indicators are very good as there is no drop in the pace at which projects are being announced. If the Government keeps up the spending pattern things will go well. While we do face obstacles like rising prices due to supply chain disruptions in Western Europe as a result of the war in Ukraine and also the continued pressure on availability of semiconductors, order books are still good.

What is your future-outlook for the Indian construction and mining equipment manufacturers?
The outlook for the Indian Construction and Mining equipment industry looks very promising. The Macro indicators are very good as there is no drop in the pace at which projects are being announced. If the Government keeps up the spending pattern things will go well. While we do face obstacles like rising prices due to supply chain disruptions in Western Europe as a result of the war in Ukraine and also the continued pressure on availability of semiconductors, order books are still good. India will also go to BS V emission norms for CEV in 2024 April and this will call for the next level of price corrections as engine prices will rise for all manufacturers. It is very essential that the rates paid by contractors make a correction in the short run to keep things running. This will be better coordinated if there is a retrofit mandate also for some of the older machines to keep the new ones competitive.
Give us an understanding of your company’s performance in the last 3 years?
Arx was incorporated in 2019, and we have made a fair amount of progress. We have finished the design and development of four sizes of motor graders – 11.5T, 16T, 20T and 32T. of these the smallest and the largest sizes are under field trials. The other two models are under final proto build. We have also finished design and proto build of a 6-8” Rotary cum DTH drill for blast hole drilling applications. This is a 32T machine and the same base carrier can also carry optional derricks and different heads to undertake auger drilling for monitoring application and universal type rotary heads for coring, reverse circulation, mud rotary or DTH. We have also developed a dust suppression machine which is an independent skid mounted unit capable of blowing a fine mist of atomised water to ss distance of 80 to 100 m. this unit can be truck mounted on a vehicle of the customers’ choice. This will reduce dust on haul roads and vastly enhance the air filter life on engines of dump trucks and other vehicles. Consequential damage due to dust entry in engines is very high, especially for large engines.
What is your future strategies at a time when technological disruptions are rapidly defining businesses in the sector?
Product development strategy for the next couple of years is a bit tricky. This year there are some changes in requirements on transmission controllers in Europe from EST37 A to EC4A. This will result in some model configuration changes from our partners ZF and we will be moving to the new standard asap. There will also be a gradual move from powershift transmissions to CVTs. This is to enhance fuel efficiency and most engines will be fitted with the capability to switch from Diesel to alternate fuels like HVO 100 and LNG/CNG etc. Arx also plans to launch an all-electric / hybrid empty container handler. This will be launched in 2024 middle. We also plan to add rough terrain / All terrain cranes to our cargo handling portfolio. We are also looking at a very large mining excavator / Wheel loader to round off the mining products.
