We need to collaborate and start skilling up operators and technicians and create a pool of skilled and trained workforce.
We have all the ranges starting from 100 TPH upto 500 TPH, installed across India in all the combinations. We are now developing foundation less crushers as well, says Onkar Sapre, Country Head – Sales & Marketing, Taurian Engineering. Excerpts from the industry
What is the growth prospects of the crusher and screens (C&S) industry?
There is a high demand for mid and high range crushers across India. Eery crusher despite the capacity and features and its price has a market. The roads and highways sector has given the real boost to the C&S industry, compared to minerals and coal mining. The growth potential is still there and with this government we are confident that infrastructure development will be the main focus which is good for the C&S industry.
What is the growth potential from the manufactured sand segment?
Environmental awareness has become very high and with many States banning river sand excavation, manufactured sand is the only alternative. And it has been proven that manufactured sand is consistent in quality, has superior strength and more environmentally friendly when compared to river sand. We have dedicated sand plants 120TPH and above for manufacturing sand; and we have already installed plants in Mumbai, Belgaum, Thiruvananthpuram, Banglore, etc.
What is the demand trend for static, wheeled and tracked plants from various sectors?
As I said every type of crusher has a market. Wheeled are preferred choice for road developers, static is preferred by commercial aggregate manufacturers, and track is preferred by sub-contractors and road developers for making GSB and WMM.
What are the product and technology trends in crushers and screens?
Well, the market trend is getting upgraded, and it is a continuous process. From the capacity angle the 250 TPH plants and above has witnessed more demand, and the trend is moving to plants with higher capacity of 300TPH and 350TPH. And it is not surprising that plant with 500TPH is an emerging trend. Well, we have all the ranges starting from 100 TPH upto 500 TPH, installed across India in all the combinations. We are now developing foundation less crushers as well.
What is the trend with regard to automation?
We still like to keep it simple with manual controls.
Brief us on the steps initiated to enhance aftersales / back up support?
We have a strong focus on after sales with nationwide warehouse support. Also we have part support for other crusher brands as well.
How do you address the issue of lack of skilled operators?
This is an area where we feel all crusher manufactures need to put their acts together. We need to collaborate and start skilling up operators and technicians, on a regular basis, and create a pool of skilled and trained workforce.
What do you think the major parameters a customer looks into while opting for a crushing plant?
Output, quality of the product, productivity, cost per tonne, and most importantly the performance of the crusher.
Why should a customer opt for your range of crushers / screens?
Well if the buyer is looking for following criteria, we beat the competition – cost per tonne, productivity, and quality of the end product.
What do you think the major challenges for the healthy growth of the industry?
Government clearances; but with a stable government in place, we are sure things will improve further.
