Hyundai unveils its ‘Smart’ series of excavators to help achieve a leadership position in the Indian excavator market.

Developed and manufactured in India, the new series excavator is designed for improved fuel efficiency and operator comfort. “The new series machines are equipped with value added features to improve operator’s comfort, fuel efficiency and reliability of the machines,” states J Y Kim, Managing Director of Hyundai Construction Equipment India.
“The ‘Smart’ series is designed for improved fuel efficiency and operator comfort. The robust structure is strengthened with forged ring body and idler track reinforcement to provide durability and strength. With excellent arm crowd forces customers can look forward to high output and faster completion of work. All this comes with a low maintenance cost and ease of serviceability. The strong network of dealers and service outlets throughout India backed by best in class customer service network support adds to the brand strengths,” says SharwanAgnihotri, Head – Marketing & Key Accounts.
Agnihotri explained the reasoning behind naming the series as ‘Smart’ which is acronym for Superior Performance, Low Maintenance, Analytical Capabilities and Advanced Technology and stressed upon the value add to the end customers from various application segments like road, stone quarry, coal mining, irrigation, railways etc.
Anup Nair, GM ( S&M and After Sales & Parts) explained the necessity to launch upgraded series for Indian market which along with enhanced coverage and engagement with customers would play key role in achieving leadership position in Indian excavator market.
The Indian construction equipment market has seen robust revival in 2016 and the industry is quite bullish about the growth prospects over next 3 to 5 years. The main driver for this shift is mainly decisive government policies. Investments in infrastructure space and agriculture have been one of the highest priorities of the government which is driving a positive wave. It has been observed that excavator market which contributes to around 25% to total construction equipment industry sector has grown by about 45 % in 2016 over 2015. The industry experts are very optimistic about the growth prospects of this industry for next 3 to 5 years.
Hyundai is one of the leading OEM’s which has actively participated in this growth story and has positioned itself as one of the prominent player in last nine years by building and delivering more than 14,000 excavators to its customers. Hyundai has also realized that the buying pattern of customer is gradually changing for a better product.
Hyundai has understood the market dynamics and brought in a new generation of products addressing the customers’ aspirations.
