What are the initiatives taken by CASE Equipment’s to improve the facilities or Manufacturing Units within the country especially in respect to Research & Development, Technology Development, and Innovation of new products that have helped the company as well as the customers over the period of last few years? What has been the total investment in creating the ecosystem?

CASE India  operates a  manufactu-
ring plant in Pithampur which is Wold Class Manufacturing Bronze Level Certified. The sprawling factory complex, which produces CASE vibratory compactors and backhoe loaders for the Indian as well as markets abroad, is spread over 40 acres and occupies over 28,000 sq. m of covered area.

The plant is equipped with advanced “World Class Manufacturing” processes that are implemented in CNH Industrial’s manufacturing plants across the world and is certified for ISO 9001:2000 quality and ISO 14000 environmental standards. CASE India do practice lean manufacturing to minimize the waste generated and proceed the processes in an eco-friendly manner.

Each CNH Industrial manufacturing plantoperates their R&D centre, training centre and spare service centre. Our R&D team constantly endeavours to develop clever innovations to make equipment more efficient. IOT, Industry 4.0 revolution, augmented reality and 3D printing are the next big changes being foreseen in the construction technology industry. These technological updates will not only revolutionize the practice of designing in the industry but also bring a surge in sales.CASE’s recent upgrades – Eagle Eye Telematics System, a real time vehicle tracking and communication based on GPS technology which can help keep a track of your machine. For example if the fuel box is empty or the machine is working far away from its prescribed geographic area it automatically sends a message regarding the same to the concerned person hence controlling the overall activity of a machine.

How have Telematics, Artificial Intelligence and Analytics helped the construction equipment manufacturers like CASE Equipment’s?

IoT and artificial intelligence are the next big thing in the construction technology industry. There are ‘n’ number of ways in which we can implement and innovate with these applications. There has always been an issue with the productivityratioin the construction industry. We believe IoT and other new technologies will help unlock the current issues being faced. Few early-stage examples in which these technologies can act as a boon to the construction industry are:

Repair and maintenance is something that has a prominent effect on the industry. If a machine is repaired when the wear starts, it might cost less and hence saving the time and money. IoT allow companies to tackle this problem head on. In relation to equipment monitoring and repair, sensors can enable machinery to detect and communicate maintenance requirements, send automated alerts for preventive maintenance, compile usage, maintain data and increase efficiency by remotely monitoring fuel consumption.

These solutions can further help to understand signals and patterns to deploy real-time solutions, cut costs, prioritize preventative maintenance and prevent unplanned downtime. Telematics helps improve the product efficiency and opens-up the industry for intelligent construction equipment. With advanced technology, use of data analytics for a real time and informed decision helps in increasing productivity, optimizing performance, maintaining fuel efficiency, improving operator safety, managing operational expenses, etc.

CASE India offers advanced Eagle-Eye-Telematics solution in its Loader Backhoe range. This Telematics solution is a GPS monitoring system which offers unique ‘Geo-fencing’ feature. Geo-fencing feature helps the user to keep a track of his machine and sends an SMS alert if machine operates outside the designated area. Furthermore, our R&D team constantly endeavours to add innovation in machine operations and keep machinery equipped with the latest technology.

Which are the new products you are planning to launch at the Excon Event and in what segments?

CASE will be showcasing its entire gamut of products at EXCON 2019 and we expect the same would draw visitor’s attention to our booth. CASE is planning some exciting launches in this EXCON but same are under wraps as of now. For new launch and services, request you to please visit our stall OD75 from 10th – 14th December.

What are the major challenges that the industry is facing and how are you planning to overcome them?

Fewer awards of contracts, limited budgetary support, high risk aversion of public sector banks to infrastructure projects, liquidity position of NBFCs, disruption in construction activity during monsoon and high cost of land acquisition are the factors adversely affecting the sector.Nonetheless, the government is announcing mid-term policies to ease the situation and we are hopeful that the improvement in the above mentioned factors can result into reversal of fortunes.

There is a clear decline in sales due to lack of investment by government in the infrastructure space and the overall slowdown in economy. This has subsequently impacted the sales and turnover of construction equipment companies as well. What has been the impact of this slowdown on your investments on technology enhancement or R&D and innovations?

This slowdown is a result of sluggish economic conditions of the country and is impacting every sector. We expect this phase not to last too long and with the kind of reforms being taken into consideration the conditions will soon change.

However, in a bid to further give a push to the country’s infrastructure, the government has set up a task force to draw up plans for building infrastructure worth Rs 100 lakh crore ($1.4 trillion) over the next five years. The NHAI has been spending nearly Rs 70,000 crore annually on road construction; NHAI is also trying to involve private investments to improve the sector’s crises. With aiding steps taken to improve the sectors monetarily crises we expect some stability in the demand in near future.

CASE India is looking forward to the next year with a hope of springing growth in the sector. The R&D process is ongoing and our team is constantly trying to out done themselves by showcasing the best of class technology.

How do you see the outlook for the industry in the year 2020 and how hopeful are you from the Excon event as far as generation of sales is concerned?

The Industry is facing some tough time due to tight financing environment; however we are hopeful that the ongoing conditions will not last long. As the government is bidding for high investment in infrastructure growth we, as a company, foresee 2020 with an encouraging future.

EXCON 2019 is the largest construction equipment trade fair held in South Asia. EXCON is an international trade fair and hence is ideal to showcase our new launches and strengths. Events like EXCON 2019 provide the construction industry with an ideal platform for networking, investment and exchange of ideas and information. This year we are hoping to witness around 1250+ Exhibitors including 350 from abroad along with participants and industry veterans to network on such a large platform. CASE will be showcasing its entire gamut of products at EXCON 2019 and we expect the same would draw visitor’s attention to our booth. Hence, we have high expectations from this prestigious platform.
