Please brief us on features in-built in your range of motor graders to ensure maximum productivity and optimum fuel efficiency.
Our G9190 motor grader offers high productivity, reliability and precision grading. Its turbocharged DeutzTier III engine not only saves energy but maximizes performance. Furthermore, the machine features a 12ft (3,657mm) moldboard as standard for wider grade coverage, making it suitable for a range of applications, from highways and airports to construction and agricultural applications.
With optimized weight distribution, the machine has an impressive 82 kN tractive force while its blade is operated via the unit’s Moveable Blade Control System (MBCS) for ultimate grading precision. The blade can rotate through a full 360° and incline up to a 90° gradient. A motor grader’s productivity is determined through the blade down force and draw bar pull. SDLG’s G9190 boasts a world-class down force of 8,386kg to maximize the cut depth without front-end drift.
What are the design features to ensure superior operator comfort – visibility and safety?
The G9190’s cab features the latest generation of operator comforts, with a new falling-object and roll-over protection structure (FOPS/ROPS) and wrap-around glass for enhanced visibility. The new cab design incorporates a more ergonomic control layout to improve precision. And the operator can work in comfort with the new shock-absorbent seat that minimizes vibration during operation.
The G9138, which launched in 2016, gives the operator precise control through a fully digital instrument panel that includes electronic monitoring. The integrated panel also offers straightforward inspection and maintenance.
Adding to the motor grader’s operability is its swing frame, which lends flexibility to the achine in meeting various work demands. The articulating swing frame’s movements allow the blade to generate more power and carry a heavy windrow. It also allows the motor grader to make turns at more acute angles for close-quarter work or on smaller roads. For greater durability and easier operations over its working lifetime, the swing frame’s composite bearing is lubrication and maintenance-free.

What is current demand-supply scenario for motor graders?
SDLG expects the demand for motor graders to be strong in the next couple of years thanks to the Indian government’s ambitious infrastructure plan, in particular its road building program. This will be a major growth driver as developers are in need of more powerful machines to meet construction deadlines. Additionally, coal mining activity is also picking up. Therefore, in the short to medium term, we expect to see an increase in demand for motor graders.
Our motor graders are readily available and in stock to cope with any surge in demand.
The application of a motor grader is limited in India. Are there specific reasons for the same?
Generally speaking, the Indian construction industry has not evolved to the same degree as markets in more developed countries. This means that the use of specialist machines which are engineered for specific applications is not as widespread. This generally accounts for the slower uptake in the use of motor graders. However we see this changing and we foresee a much stronger pickup in the usage of motor graders across India.
What are the major factors that need to be looked at while selecting a right model of motor grader?
Choosing a suitable motor grader is crucial to the success of a project. First and foremost, the scale of the project should be taken into consideration. A motor grader with higher power such as the G9190 should be used in projects of a larger scale and where the construction schedule is short. Otherwise, the G9138 can serve as a more economical option for projects of a smaller scale.
The other important factor is the engine of a motor grader, which determines the power and
productivity of a machine. Adding to the capability of the machine is its swing frame which lends flexibility to the machine in meeting various work demands All of these factors should be taken into account when selecting a motor grader.
