Empowering the Customers

SchwingStetter India through its various training centres empowers customers through special training programs to cater to customized needs of customers, apart from regular operators training for concrete equipment.

Well before the Skill India campaign was unveiled by the current government, the Herculean task of skilling the unskilled, especially in the concrete equipment segment has been addressed by SchwingStetter India. Decades ago, to be specific in 2004, SchwingStetter set up an exclusive training centre at its head office in Irungattukottai, Chennai. Over the years, the humble beginning bore fruits, and spread to major cities with dedicated centres churning out over 4000 certified operators till now.
SchwingStetter Operator Training School was awarded and certified as the First Training Centre to certify pump operators under the PradhanMantriKaushalVikasYojana Initiative Scheme in India. SchwingStetter partnered with the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC), a brainchild of the ICEMA (Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturing Association) where construction equipment operators will receive a certified degree from the IESC for skilling of equipment operation and maintenance. Through this centre training is provided to the students and unemployed youth under PMKVY, the flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship. “As a part of SchwingStetter India’s vision of empowering our esteemed customers with knowledge and expertise, an exclusive training centre was setup in 2004 at our head office inIrungattukottai, Kancheepuram. We are proud to say that we have been awarded and accredited as the India’s first ever training centre to certify pump operators under PradhanMantriKaushalVikasYojana scheme in India,” stated VG Sakthikumar, Managing Director, SchwingStetter Sales & Services.
“Our course has been created in such a manner that our students will receive exceptional training in the duration of 1 month. The main aim behind partnering with the ICEMA and PMKVY is to be able to provide the necessary certifications that will help our students receive jobs across other companies also. Our focus is to create employment opportunities across the country,” stated BaskarBabu, Principal of the SchwingStetter Operator Training School.
“Handling concreting equipment is a skill that needs special and focused training and SchwingStetter India is doing a phenomenal job in training several youngsters in this field,” said Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The minister was reviewing the progress of the SchwingStetter Operator Training School, the first “Centre of Excellence” of IESC for skilling concrete equipment operators. The minister said, “The Indian Government has been emphasizing the “Make-in-India” campaign consistently. While there are many manufacturing companies across India, most of them are running short of skilled labour.
Today, the sprawling 12,000 sqft training centre offers certified training courses perfectly blended with theory and practice. Equipped with large lecture halls to train up to 100 persons at a time, the training centre has animation based training programs, fully fledged technical library, cut model display area cafeteria for the trainees.

Spreading the Wings
2011 witnessed the opening of two new training centres, one in Kolkotta and the other in New Delhi. In 2013 another dedicated centre was opened in Hyderabad. In New Delhi, SSI’s training centre is located in SchwingStetter India regional office, Okhla. Since operation from May 2011, this exclusive training center set up in New Delhi covers the customers in New Delhi, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Rajasthan.
In Kolkata, its training centre is located at SSI’s service centre, Dankuni. Operational from May 2011, this exclusive training center, set up in Kolkata will cover the customers in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Assam, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura. With dedicated trainer, the Kolkata Regional training center is fully operational to cater to the customer needs.
In Hyderabad, SSI’s training centre is located at our Regional office in Banjara Hills. Operational since March 2013, this centre covers the customers in Telengana, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Chattisgarh and parts of Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra. With dedicated trainer in all these centres SSI caters to the customer needs on the respective regions.
According to Sakthikumar a new training centre to cater to the requirements of the western regions is expected to be commissioned in Pune this year. “SchwingStetter India is constantly evolving with times and will continue to support its esteemed customers in every way possible way to impart technical knowledge. Very soon, we will be inaugurating a regional training center for Western region in Pune,” said up Sakthikumar.
SSI opened couple of service cum training centres in the northeastern regions. “We have spread our service network and have placed people in different corners of Northeastern region. So we will able to negotiate on the challenge of after sales support, especially on reaching the customer on time. We have identified machine clusters and in each cluster we have placed people. So we are in a position to offer quick service. We have enhanced our service capabilities, and have also expanded our footprint in the northeast by opening our spare parts and service outlets, one in Silchar and the other in Guwahati. We are also well prepared to open more similar centres to meet the requirements of building fraternity if required.”

Advanced Courses
“The training centre imparts yearly calendar programs such as primary and advanced courses on operation, maintenance, safety, and troubleshooting for deriving the best benefits out of SchwingStetter equipment. These programs are conducted on a 3 – 4 days basis to hone their operational and service skills. All customer personnel such as engineers, supervisors, mechanics and operators can undergo courses from primary to advanced level in the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of SchwingStetter equipment such as concrete pumps, batching plants, transit mixers and self-loading mixers. Under this program, we have trained and certified more than 1000 personnel, stated Sakthikumar.

On-site Training
SchwingStetter India training department offers custom designed training program based on customer’s requirement, at their premises. Says Sakthikumar, “Special programs are conducted to cater to customized needs of our customers. We have covered more than 4000 customer personnel’s under this customized training segment. Some of our esteemed customers benefitted from these programs are HCC, L&T, RDC Concrete, Mfar, Afcons, ITD cementation, ACC, Lafarge, Ultratech RMC, etc.”

Yearly Training Contracts
SchwingStetter India provides yearly training contract options for large organizations to train their entire technical personnel on the operation, maintenance and troubleshooting of SchwingStetter equipment. The package includes identifying the skill needs of each individual, formulating customized training courses, drawing up the yearly training calendar, conducting training programs as per schedule at Sites as well as at the SSI training centre. This is a highly proven training methodology to bring about the whole organization to its peak performance.

Skill Assessment and Certification
SchwingStetter India training department offers skill assessment and certify based on the output results. This will help our customers to identify the skill level of their work force.

SSI Operator Training Schools
Popularly known as OTS (Operator Training School), it is a one month course to develop fresh operators for batching plant and concrete pumps. The nominated candidates will undergo exclusive focused training in our factory which includes theory session, shop floor, service center and site training. After successful completion of training and assessment exam, certificate will be issued by SchwingStetter India Private Limited. This one month training is recognized by NSDC and IESC.
Successful candidates will be placed across anywhere in India. The scope of employment for passed out candidates who individually undergo this training is immense. “Till now, we have placed more than 800 operators across ACC, Afcons, ITD Cementation, Lafarge, RDC concrete, Petron civil Engg, Gemini and many more. Further to cater to customers in their own region, we have come up with regional training centers at New Delhi, Kolkata and Hyderabad,” said Sakthikumar.

Moving Ahead
“Our efforts on the skilling front have well been appreciated by both the clients and various government departments. We will continue to strengthen this area. Wherever we realize that there is a need for training, we will definitely do that. As and when the machine population goes up, we will immediately respond to it. We will be expanding our footprint and recruiting more service engineers to cater to the requirements of our customers,” Sakthikumar sums up.
