How do you rate your company’s journey so far and what do you think are the major factors contributing to your success saga in the construction equipment industry?

We started our Hosur, India operations in 2009 and now more than a decade later, enjoy a strong market presence through various brands – Powerscreen, Terex Minerals Processing Systems (MPS), Terex Washing Systems (TWS) and many other brands – providing solutions to major strategic infrastructure projects across India. We have come a long way since we first established our facility to now becoming a global manufacturing hub, providing world-class equipment for Terex worldwide. India is a very important market for Terex, and we are continuously incorporating new innovations and technologies across our products to give our customers access to world-class technology, safety and environmental standards while also supporting “Made in India” products.

Terex is proud to be associated with prominent projects like the Purvanchal Expressway, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Samruddhi Expressway, Z Mohr Tunnel, Chenani-Nashri Tunnel, Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project, and many more.

Tell us about the technological trends in your range of products?

India is witnessing rapid urbanization and so is the crushing & screening industry, fuelling demand for faster and smarter construction, a major driver for customers to move towards mobility. Digitization and automation have a significant impact on construction projects. The demand for machines that are cost-effective, with policies for lower emissions is compelling construction equipment manufacturers to opt for electric and hybrid vehicles over the traditional ones. Customers are cost-sensitive, but they are willing to pay for features which bring efficiency in costs and quality. Our Hybrid technology and Telematics are the perfect examples for this.

Recently, Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport & Highways, highlighted the importance of telematics, which allows operators to monitor construction equipment from anywhere, remotely as well as safely. Powerscreen Pulse has recently been launched for its products manufactured at the Terex India facility at Hosur, meaning that its customers in India can now avail of actionable information with customised reports and suggested actions for more fuel-efficient operation. With the Pulse system, one can monitor the location of machines, check the hours on the machines, contact the customer straight away when services are due. The customers can also gain deeper insights into how their machines and entire fleets are performing through dynamic, intuitive dashboards, filters and custom reports on the health and productivity of their equipment.

What differentiates your company from other competitive players in the construction equipment space?

We are one of the market leaders in Crushing, Screening, Washing and Conveying Solutions for aggregates used in various infrastructure projects. We have a solid presence in the market for the last 20 years with track mobile crushers catering to the mining and highway sector including NHAI projects and our wide range of portable crushing and aggregate washing equipment supporting urban development and irrigation projects. We are now focusing on sustainable infrastructure development with our aggregate Washing product range producing manufactured sand and recycling systems for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) and Construction & Demolition waste. India is a very important market for Terex, and we are continuously incorporating new innovations and technologies across our products to give our customers access to world-class technology while also supporting “Made in India” products.

What products are being showcased / launched at Excon and what will be your focus of display?

Excon is the perfect platform to showcase our innovative products to the market and our strong display of machines does just that. We will be fully demonstrating the versatility of our portfolio with the launch of nine new machines at Excon this year. Powerscreen, one of the world’s leading providers of mobile crushing and screening equipment, is showcasing brand new Powerscreen PT410E and MT1010E Hybrid powered machines at Excon 2021. The Powerscreen Hybrid option gives customers an alternative energy source, letting them choose which fuel to use depending on cost, location and availability. This option will be of special interest for customers in areas where electricity is more cost effective than diesel fuel and on sites where electricity is the preferred energy source. Powerscreen Hybrid machines are fitted with an additional electric/hydraulic drive system which can be connected to an external electricity supply once the machine has been setup onsite, reducing fuel consumption and operating costs. The Powerscreen Hybrid range is the best-in-class solutions available in the market.

What motivates you to participate at this Expo? What are your expectations from Excon, especially after a period of lull due to Covid 19 pandemic?

We have seen both ups and downs as far as India’s Crushing & Screening Industry is concerned. The Covid-19 pandemic created significant challenges, but we are starting to see strong revival this year. The long-term growth opportunities for the CE industry remain positive. While most of the demand for construction equipment is expected to come from the Infra sector, the mining sector would also raise a lot of demand for machines.

EXCON is one of the largest construction equipment trade fairs and has been playing an important role in bringing out the latest technologies and solutions and we at Terex are proud to be a part of the 11th edition taking place this year. Our presence at the event demonstrates our commitment to strengthen our foothold in India’s Construction Equipment Market by bringing in new technologies, expanding our product portfolio, and entering new construction territories, in turn, contributing to India’s infrastructure development.

Excon is an excellent platform for gathering of the construction industry’s most prominent players and experts, allowing to expand our knowledge and connect with other key stakeholders. This year’s edition will undoubtedly see a spike in the number of visitors, as it will be the first major construction machinery show in the country since the outbreak of the Covid-19.

What is your insight on your company’s road map for next three years?

India has vast mining potential and most of Terex India’s customers typically have Powerscreen equipment in operation across the mining belts in India. We have immense experience in the mining sector and pride ourselves in moving in a direction of sustainability.

As we saw significant growth in Mining Sector in recent years, we started manufacturing the Powerscreen Chieftain 2200, which has two highly versatile double deck screenboxes and Powerscreen Horizon Range Screens H6203 which feature horizontal screens ideal for handling high volumes of sticky materials and for producing the exact, fine sizing, required in this segment.
