Vice President – Marketing, Puzzolana
The concept of ‘Make in India’ for the world seems to have caught up with most of the OEMs. What is your take on this? Indian CE industry taken as whole what is the current growth and expected CAGR in export?
The availability of raw material, infrastructure and skilled manpower and huge market demands for manufacture in India.
Puzzolana’s philosophy is to manufacture 100% in-house, right from design, Engineering, fabrication, Foundries, forgings, machining, assembly testing and supply, erection & commissioning on turnkey basis.
Brief us on the scope and potential for export of your range of products?
Puzzolana is an ISO9000 Company. All our products, including crawler units have export potential. We are exporting to Middle East, Bangladesh and Africa.
Could you brief us on the roadmap and strategies initiated to become a successful player in the global markets?
We are working to have the dealers and stockiest for spares and services for the plants being exported by us.
Which are the major markets that you focus on and what are the factors contributing to it? Are there separate investment / R&D efforts for this? Could you brief us on the same?
Our major market is Indian market as we have more than 4500 plants installations, spread over the entire crushing zones. Puzzolana believes in understanding the needs of our customers, like manufactured sands and plaster sand and classification of the product to get quality products.
As the global markets are highly competitive, especially in terms of quality of the product and backup support, how have you ensured the same to cut a niche in those markets?
As mentioned earlier, all our products are CE approved and can be exported basically covering the international safety norms and features. Also, we have the quality products in view of in-house manufacture and quality control.
We have trained dealers and stockiest in Africa, Middle East and Far East, so that customers needs are taken care of in the shortest possible time.
What do you think are the major challenges you face in the global markets and how do you address these challenges?
The major challenge is the cost when compared to Chinese products. As mentioned earlier, all our products are CE approved and can be exported basically covering the international safety norms and features.
How does the company address the logistical / policy based challenges with reference to the global market? Do you expect any policy reforms or incentive systems from the government that may boost the export?
We expect the GOI should also have exim-policy for funding especially in African countries.
Currently, what is the volume / percentage of business from export and what is the growth you are targeting or expected?
We do about 10% of our turnover and expect to improve the same.
How do you assess the impact of the Budget 2020 on the CE industry? Also tell us on the outlook especially the product range that you deal with?
There is slowdown, as there are not many projects taking off and are still awaiting sanctions. We hope this will improve in the coming years and expect the market to reach the levels of 2019-20.
