As an organisation, we are extremely passionate about Inclusion and Diversity and constantly work towards building a community teeming with opportunities for growth and development. For us, diversity is more than just policies, programs or headcounts as we try to be an equitable employer who outpaces their competitors by respecting the unique needs, perspectives, and potential of all their team members. We constantly channelize our efforts to enhance gender diversity ratio which has brought in an increase of around 167% women employed across our various entities in India.

Ever since the ban restricting women working in mines was lifted, we enlarged our talent pool to hire the right women to be a part of our Sales and Service team. The sales engineers are deputed in our regional offices across India while the service engineers were inducted in the Service Academy which provides a full suite of training and competency management services through a state-of-the-art training center in our Udaipur premises. The first batch of engineers have been posted at various mines and sites across India.

Our Product Companies at Nashik and Hyderabad have also been taking steady leaps in this journey. Nashik is working on plans to double the count of women at all levels be it in the management or on the shop floor. They launch newspaper ads for recruitment, sponsor various programs and events to reach out to a wider audience, promote female employees to take up global roles and give training through local mentorship programs. They motivate them to be a part of steering committees and also have a local group for female employees called LIFE (Live In Freedom Each Day) which helps them become more confident and discuss challenges and opportunities they come across.

Being under the factory law, our Hyderabad Product Company first got government approvals for women on the shopfloor to work in shifts, which was not allowed earlier. They increased the infrastructure for women with better transport, canteen and hygiene facilities, stationed female paramedics on site, conduct trainings on POSH and enable conversations with the senior management to give women confidence about Epiroc as an equal opportunity employer. Talks for creche amenities are in progress while planning a `bring your parents to work day’, so that parents would be at peace and see for themselves, the progressive and safe environment their daughter works in.

Our technical centre in Bangalore has implemented hybrid working system with flexible work hours to promote work life balance and have enabled infrastructure to support remote working. They conduct their recruitments from women engineering colleges and ensure that the professionals get well rounded opportunities for growth and development while the company gets a pool of highly efficient and trained people.

With the dedicated support from all entities across the country, Epiroc India hopes to move closer to being a workplace that nurtures, mentors and empowers women to add value and make a difference. We wish to celebrate their grit and mettle and promise the customer, best in class service, skilled personnel and enhanced productivity without compromise!
