Blue Energy Motors, a pioneer in green-energy heavy-duty trucks, has reached a remarkable milestone by surpassing 50 million kms on the Indian highways saving 14,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions since the deployment of its Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG)-powered green trucks. This achievement is equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of over 5,60,000 trees, underscoring the company’s pivotal role in decarbonizing India’s commercial transportation sector.
This milestone aligns seamlessly with India’s commitment to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2070. The transport sector, particularly commercial vehicles, accounts for a disproportionate share of carbon emissions. According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, commercial vehicles contribute nearly 40% of CO2 emissions in road transport while comprising only 4% of the total vehicle fleet. These figures highlight the urgent need for sustainable alternatives like LNG and EV, which have emerged as game-changers in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Commenting on the achievement, Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors, said, "Crossing the milestone of 50 million kms by Blue Energy Motors trucks is a testament to the growing footprint of green energy trucks across the ecosystem. With 14,000 tonnes of CO₂ emissions saved, it is a proud moment and a strong reflection of our commitment to driving sustainable change in the trucking industry. This achievement—equivalent to the annual carbon absorption of over 5,60,000 trees—underscores the transformative potential of our LNG-powered trucks and the role of clean energy in decarbonizing logistics. At Blue Energy Motors, we are not only redefining freight mobility with alternate fuel solutions but also building a comprehensive ecosystem of sustainable commercial vehicles for the future. We remain steadfast in our vision of a cleaner, greener tomorrow leading the shift toward sustainable mobility in India and beyond.”
LNG-powered trucks offer a cleaner and more sustainable alternative to diesel vehicles, cutting CO2 emissions by up to 30% while significantly reducing particulate matter and nitrogen oxides. When deployed in suitable long-haul applications, these benefits amplify, making LNG technology a cornerstone of India's green logistics transition. Blue Energy Motors’ trucks are already facilitating a shift toward cleaner logistics, helping fleet owners reduce emissions and operational costs.
In addition to its leadership in LNG-powered vehicles for long haul operations, as part of its strategy Blue Energy Motors is slated to launch its electric heavy-duty trucks for short haul operations, further strengthening its commitment to carbon reduction and innovation. This dual focus on LNG and EV technologies positions Blue Energy Motors at the forefront of India’s green transportation revolution, addressing both immediate and long-term sustainability challenges.
Recently the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Government of Maharashtra to accelerate the adoption of clean and sustainable transportation in the state. The collaboration aims to bolster the development and deployment of LNG-powered trucks and establish necessary infrastructure, including LNG refuelling stations, to support green logistics. This strategic partnership underscores Maharashtra’s commitment to decarbonizing long-haul trucking and positions Blue Energy Motors as a key enabler in India’s journey towards net-zero emissions.
Blue Energy Motors, the zero-emissions heavy-duty truck manufacturer and a partner in Essar’s green mobility initiative, is disrupting the trucking industry by creating clean alternatives to decarbonize the environment while breaking the barriers of economic returns. Its disruptive business model enables corporate customers to seamlessly integrate next-generation alternate fuel technology heavy-duty trucks in their fleet while ensuring access to robust refuelling and charging infrastructure, along with comprehensive vehicle maintenance support. By creating this ecosystem, Blue Energy Motors and its strategic business partners and suppliers are paving the way for zero-emission transportation and ushering in a green trucking revolution.
