BEML flags off India’s first 105T and 205T electric dump trucks.

BEML, a public sector company under the Ministry of Defence and a premier manufacturer of mining and construction equipment, has launched indigenously designed and developed nation’s first 105T and 205T electric drive rear dump trucks addressing the growing demand for higher capacity equipment in the mining industry.

At a function held at Mysore, Deepak Kumar Hota, CMD, BEML and K Sinha, CMD, Northern Coalfields (NCL), flagged off the 205T electric dumper for large scale mining operations for its use in NCL project.

The 205T dump truck is environmental friendly in relation to mechanical drive due to its superior efficiency. State of the art AC drive system has been engineered for best in class efficiency and reliability. Consumption of transmission oil, final drive and brake cooling oil are eliminated reducing the environmental impact over its life cycle. BH205E dump truck is powered by Tier- II emission compliant modular common rail electronic engine  with 2300 HP. The AC drive system has been engineered to provide exceptional haul road performance with reduced
maintenance.

The dump truck weighs 335T when fully loaded but is easily manoeuvrable with power-steering and short turning radius. Emphasis has been accorded to operators comfort while designing the machine and it has an ergonomically designed dash board and tiltable telescopic steering wheel. Other salient features of the truck include good visibility in addition to safety features with provisions for emergency steering, breaking and proximity warning. “With the introduction of this new generation dump truck, BEML has touched another milestone in its R&D efforts in achieving self-reliance, enhanced productivity in mining operations and increased production, apart from optimizing costs, stated Hota, CMD, BEML. “BEML acknowledges the encouragement being provided by CIL and its subsidiary for Make In India policy of GoI” added Hota.

BEML flagged off the 150T dump truck for its use in the coal fields of CIL’s subsidiary South Eastern Coal Fields for the Gevra Project.  This new innovative product not only showcased the technical prowess of BEML but also is qualitatively comparable to any global brands of its kind. The product has significant features like high power performance, enhanced productivity, increased reliability, excellent serviceability, exceptional manoeuvrability, superior operating comfort and improved safety.

This dump truck has eco-friendly emission certified engine with electronic fuel management system to deliver maximum power and GE AC propulsion system to cater consistent performance in steep gradients. Its wide body design, higher volumetric capacity and a low loading height ensures high stability and productivity.

“The launch of this higher capacity dump truck will surely put BEML in a select band of companies globally. It helps not only in saving foreign exchange as an import substitution, but also the lead time in delivery of the equipment at site and life cycle service support would improve considerably” stated Hota.

BEML, a leading multi-technology ‘Miniratna-Category-1’ Company under the Ministry of Defence, plays a pivotal role in serving India’s core sectors like Defence, Rail, Power, Mining and Infrastructure. BEML operates in three verticals viz. Defence & Aerospace, Mining and Construction and Rail and Metro and has state-of-the art manufacturing facilities located at Bangalore, Kolar Gold Fields (KGF), Mysore, Palakkad.
