What specific goals and priorities are you aiming to achieve during Excon 2023?

Excon is the largest Construction Equipment Exhibition in South Asia and the exhibitor list consists of all the major Construction equipment OEMs participating not only from India but also from various parts of the world. This event is the right place for Dana to showcase the latest advancements and technologies both in conventional as well as EV space. Our goal is to reach out to the maximum audience with the innovative offerings we have for applications like Mobile Elevated Work platform, Wheel Loaders, Compaction equipment, Self-loading concrete mixers, telehandlers etc

The emerging technologies shown by OEMs in this exhibition will also help Dana to understand the customer needs and product requirements in order to be aligned with the market trend.

Can you provide insights into the range of products you intend to showcase at Excon 2023?

Dana is focussing on the emerging market in electrification for the construction equipment segment. We will be showcasing.

• Wheel Drives for electric MEWP
• e-Transmission for wide range of construction applications
• Axles for Wheel Loaders
• Low/High Voltage Motors and Inverters
• Drum Drive for Compaction Equipment  

How is the company looking at leveraging this opportunity at Excon for business growth?

Indian construction equipment market is poised to grow at ~10% YOY. Dana expects to engage with several OEMs by offering the best-in-class innovative products for various applications both conventional and electrified. This will be an opportunity for us to interact with multiple customers at the same place.

How do you look at your company’s involvement in smart manufacturing of products or your vision for the future in terms of AI, Automation, IoT, Robotics etc?

Our manufacturing facilities are quite lean and driven with MES that supports all the defined steps of the manufacturing/ assembly processes, eliminates chances of defective parts, keeps traceability data secure and helps get immediate retrieval of data in case of any customer issues. We are using robotics on many of our critical machining stations and heat treatment processes.

What do you consider the most critical smart manufacturing technologies for the gear motor industry, and why?

There has been significant advancement in the gear and component manufacturing, assembly, and end of line testing for the gearmotor with increasing electrification of the products considering the NVH requirements.

What is your perspective on the anticipated market dynamics in the gearmotor sector?

This is likely to grow at a rapid pace considering the growth in the domestic market as well as many global OEM’s making India as a manufacturing Hub to meet their global requirements.
