How do you look at India as a potential market for trenchless technologies?
India is one of the fastest developing country in the world at the moment. As we grow and develop, the need for gasification increases, and so do our Pipelines. We are seeing a massive surge for underground trenchless technologies in India. This has never been seen before, not only fibers, but major pipelines across India are being laid out using Trenchless Technology. While our business operates in various Countries across the world, India is the fastest growing market for us and our products.
How are trenchless methods of construction technologies evolving in India? Which segments drive the demand for trenchless equipment the most?
The pipeline segment is driving the demand for trenchless equipment the most. The entire country is being connected by underground gas pipelines, from national pipelines, to city level – city gas networks are all driving demand for trenchless equipment. There is a huge environmental and re-developmental impact due to open trenching and major governing bodies are trying to avoid the same. The evolution has been indeed fantastic, the methodologies and technology is indeed at par with what you would see across the world.
What are the products and solutions offered by your company in trenchless methods?
Elgin Separation Solutions (ESS) (Formerly known as Kem-Tron Technologies) headquartered in Houston Texas, pioneered the packaged mud recycling systems back in 1990’s. Our systems are used for reclaiming the mud facilitate the removal of drilled solids and cuttings from the drilling mud. These systems are typically used to improve the economics of drilling by reducing the usage of mud (contains water, bentonite and additives) by allowing the driller to re-use it. ESS manufactures these packages for Horizontal Directional Drilling as well as the Microtunneling Industries.
What are your after-sales initiatives for your customers?
We have a team of after sales engineers and technicians who can visit any site in India within 48 hours to prevent any downtime. However, the systems are robust and our stocking program and supply chain is extremely sophisticated to ensure that the spares are readily available for all customers across India.
Could you elaborate on the presence of your company in India? What are the expansion plans?
ESS currently holds 80-85% of the market share in packaged mud recycling systems across in the Trenchless industry in India. We are already on the road to expanding our efforts across Middle East and Indonesia through our facilities in India. Within India our goal is to keep bring incremental improvements and innovation to our existing products.
