How do you look at the market dynamics of infrastructure equipment in India? What is the current demand scenario from these segments?
As you know that we are one of the pioneer in mechanical power transmission equipment and for last 50 year we are serving various industries. Construction equipment is one of our focus segment and will remain so.
Post-covid we see a decent demand of our kind of mechanical power transmission products in infrastructure equipment. As we all know that this segment in very labour centric in developing countries and we all see migration of people in covid time especially during 1st wave. Be it road construction, housing, flyover and bridges or industrial development we see growth everywhere. India government envisioned to make Indian economy $5 Trillion by 2024-25 and therefore focus on infrastructure is imperative.
We are very hopeful and estimating to grow in segment by atleast 6-10% in next 4-5 years.
What is the current technological trends in geared motors market in India?
Productivity is very important today as well to be competitive and sustain in the market. Industry is looking forward to have trouble free products and faster response post sales. Road construction equipment are the backbone of the infrastructure and thereby can’t afford downtime because of the demand and its work nature. Reliable and efficient product are preferred in all sphere of industry. Power Build has very wide range of product to cater the industry. Planetary, helical-bevel and SMSR are preferred gear box with energy efficient IE2/IE3 motors.
What are the features OEM customers are looking for in Geared Motors? How do you look at the changing customer needs over the years?
Today, OEM want energy efficient, robust and reliable product, additionally need deliveries on time and sometime on very urgent basis because of sudden change in demand by their users. We have seen many clients who are looking for a partner having their own indigenous facility to cater them and also capable to do customization to match their requirements. We have seen in many disruption in the supply chain during last couple of year due to covid, Russia-Ukraine conflict and many other global factors. We PBL are proud to say that we have our own manufacturing facility all critical components of gear box/ geared motor are manufactured in-house. We do have 5 Swift Centers for Quick Assembly and deliver to customers for their needs.
How do you see opportunities in these challenging situations?
Expectation of the customer are more and increasingly going up each day. We are blessed to have our own research & development and manufacturing facility which can handle any special requirement in terms of new product development or customization. We have collaborated with many clients for development of various products. There are lot of untapped opportunities available in the market to grow.
What is the way forward for geared motors in the Off-Highway Market?
Consumption of Traditional geared motor in Off-highway market as not much, that equipment requires very specialized gear box which is driven through hydraulic system. In future may be renting business of these equipment may increase. As far as the road construction equipment are concern, we are quite hopeful and anticipating good business. We are also ready to deliver the Gear Boxes compatible with Hydraulic/Servo Motors.
How do you see the market recovery for geared motors going forward?
Few months back there were lot of upside change in the raw material prices, and because of that we saw almost stand still of the new product for certain period but now I would say that these prices have also more or less settled and investors are going ahead with their plans. We look for Increase in demand in coming years.
What are your expansion plans?
We are expanding ourselves in many areas, we have invested latest machines which are expected to be operational in next few months from now. We also expanded our assembly work by 20-30% to we assemble more gear box/geared motor in our VV Nagar (Gujarat) plant. We are enhancing our Swift center at Chennai with 15000SFT for certain range of product, which will have capacity to assemble more than 25000 Geared Motors/year. This center will primarily cater to southern part of India like Tamilnadu, Andra Pradesh, Telangana Karnataka and Kerala.
