How do you look at the possibilities improving for OEMs in the CE industry as the Sagarmala project is set to promote port-led direct and indirect development and to provide infrastructure to transport goods to and from ports quickly, efficiently?

The Sagarmala project which has set its total expenditure at 8.5 trillion rupees is one of the biggest construction initiatives from the Government of India. With about 577 projects delegated to different sections of this project, we believe that this port-led development has created an immense opportunity for Indian OEMs to display their quality and capacity to support such large scale projects. We are proud to be partnering up with almost 85% of construction companies involved in the project.

What are your major contributions in the Sagarmala project? Which of your equipment are employed in the Sagarmala project?

Companies like L&T, Patel Engineering, and Sadbhav Infrastructure Projects Ltd are regular Schwing Stetter India customers who have employed our cutting edge machinery to support their construction projects before. With the involvement of these companies from the start of the Phase-I of Sagarmala, our SLMs, Transit Mixers and Batching plants have been in play since 2016 for various projects of this initiative in different regions and terrains.

With heavy increase in expenditure for infrastructure development through Sagarmala project, how do you think you are going to utilize the opportunity?

The 8.5 trillion-rupee budget paves way for huge purchase bills in the construction industry and Schwing Stetter India plans to take full advantage of this opportunity. We have been adding fresher models with technological and capacity upgrades to match the requirements of such big projects. In EXCON 2K21, Schwing Stetter India launched 14 new products and 4 new updates of existing machinery to increases the value proposition for our customers.

Last mile connectivity is crucial. How do you assess the challenges in the Sagarmala project in terms of construction equipment?

Our machinery has already been involved in different parts of the Sagarmala project like the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial corridor, Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), Dholera Smart City, Delhi-Mumbai Expressway, Mumbai-Ahmedabad Express High-speed rail and other projects that come under the banner of Sagarmala. These projects have received and still receive failsafe technical and service support from our 25+ dealerships spread across India. This experience has enabled us to face the challenges of last mile connectivity constructions with a hassle free mindset.

What are your suggestions that need to be incorporated by the government to ensure not just the success of the programme, but also growth for the CE manufacturers?

We believe that the governing bodies of the Sagarmala has to divert more focus to fast track approving the projects that come under the different phases of the initiative that started in the year 2016. We also believe that the PLI schemes should also be extended to the construction equipment industry as it can prove to be the stimulus the CE economy needs right now.
