What was your company’s focus at bauma Munich this time?
Many months in the planning, but over in just a few short days, bauma was an even bigger success than expected for Yanmar Compact Equipment. Coming as part of the company’s continued commitment to electrification, Yanmar CE presented a number of exciting all-electric additions to our range. Alongside the SV17e mini excavator, Yanmar also presented the all-electric C08 tracked carrier, as well as a working prototype of the battery powered V8e compact wheel loader. These are our first important steps towards the goal of offering a complete range of zero emission electric compact equipment. We know that electric machines are only just beginning their journey, so in tandem we continue to refine and improve our entire ICE powered fleet, both in efficiency and performance.
Together with the Zero Emission fleet, at Bauma we featured a team of 26 machines in total, to showcase our versatility and performance in the city and its surroundings. In the Road Construction area, visitors saw 5 construction-ready machines configured with various attachments including asphalt cutters and breakers. In the Demolition zone, we had 3 compact, powerful and highly maneuverable machines equipped with sorting grapples, breakers and skeleton buckets.
All Yanmar equipment globally is now being branded in our ‘Premium Red’ livery, which is an exciting development, and yet another factor that differentiates us from our competition.
How has Bauma Munich helped in leveraging opportunity for business development and growth?
Our presence was instrumental in positioning Yanmar as a key sustainable player in the construction equipment sphere. Our latest electric machine prototypes, that amassed considerable interest at the show. We also showcased our rebranding by unveiling the bold new tagline ‘Building With You’. And with almost half a million visitors from all around the world, our attending bauma in Munich demonstrated Yanmar CE’s transformation to a truly global audience.
What are the bottlenecks & suggestions to iron out those challenges in the construction equipment industry?
Our history is as a Japanese company, and we are proud of that. But increasingly, we are a global company, via overseas investments and acquisitions, initially in the EU and US. This is allowing us to expand our product portfolio, manufacturing and sourcing footprints – as well as opening up a much deeper talent pool. We believe in being close to our clients and sourcing and making as much of our product range as close to major areas of demand as possible. We are committed to delivering global compact equipment solutions using this global operational framework.
