How does your company define and measure the efficiency of your road construction equipment?
Mahindra Construction Equipment has done extensive research on road construction equipment and its requirements. And has come up with one of the most efficient and reliable motor graders in the 100 HP category. We have kept in mind the needs of small contractors and have made Mahindra RoadMaster G9075 and Mahindra RoadMaster G75 Smart, which are especially made for rural roads and PMGSY roads. Mahindra RoadMaster G9595 has been made keeping in mind that the bigger graders are underutilized, due to some or the reason. Sometimes the material doesn’t come on time at site or sometimes operator doesn’t come on time, so the core working hours for any road construction equipment is 8 hours a day. Hence our machine is the most efficient in terms of optimized operating cost. Our machines have the lowest fuel average in the category.
What specific features or design elements of your equipment contribute to its overall efficiency?
Operating economics plays a major role in construction equipment. RoadMaster has the lowest fuel average in the category. They have optimum rotation angle of 50°+/-1.5° from transverse of vehicle provides faster grading of heavy material. Also, the blades now accommodate between tyre while the machine is travelling. This helps with smooth maneuverability at sites. Longer base length, increased support, and less vibration with blade length of 3000 +/-15 for better quality work and finishing. All these with optimum cost of ownership makes it the most valuable machine for road contractors.
How do you ensure that your equipment meets or exceeds industry standards for efficiency?
Our R&D department has done extensive research before introducing RoadMaster in the market. We have developed three variants of Mahindra RoadMaster as G9595, G9075 & G75 Smart. All variants cater to the requirements of small to big contractors. These machines are highly utilized in village roads, district roads, state highways & PMGSY projects. As per industry sources 90% + road construction in India is for rural roads. Where our graders are more efficient than the conventional graders, Conventional graders are big in size with heavy owning and operating cost. They are overbuilt for small projects incurring unnecessary expenses. Our graders are best suited for the requirement as our machine is high on the job and low on the pocket.
What technological advancements or innovations have you incorporated into your equipment to enhance efficiency?
RoadMaster comes with iMAXX telematics solution. It helps to monitor one’s machine from any given location through your mobile. Some of the features of iMAXX can be listed below as
Vehicle Health Monitoring: This feature lets you know if your machine needs to be serviced and if any part or something needs to be fixed or not. You will get notification whenever required.
Fuel Level Analysis: This feature allows you to monitor the machine’s fuel level and if there is any theft, it can easily identify any such activity.
Location tracking with Geofence: This feature helps you to set a boundary for your machine and it sends notification to machine owner if the machine will go out from the selected location. iMAXX is basically the modern GPS which helps you track the live location of the machine, and the places it has been to, which decreases the chances of unnecessary movement of machine. In addition, it also shows the nearby service stations for the machine, which will ensure smooth operation and always ensure the best productivity. Apart from this automated reports, service reminders and preventive notification on any fault in the equipment are enabled with iMAXX telematics.
How do you collaborate with customers or industry professionals to gather feedback on the efficiency of your equipment?
We have a strong 50+ channel network. Our field team is in close contact with all our customers. Any breakdowns or concerns reported are taken care of with thorough consideration. We also conduct surveys to improve the quality and efficiency of the machine from time to time. With the help of iMAXX, we monitor the machine centrally from our Pune Head Office. We provide preventive information before anything happens. All our service engineers are trained to resolve any issue in case arises with the machine.
What research and development initiatives does your company undertake to continuously improve the efficiency of your road construction equipment?
We have a dedicated product planning team, which works on improving the product quality and on developing new products, they identify an opportunity in the construction sector to cater to and they make it happen. This is how our grader came into existence, there were no established graders within 100 HP category, hence we launched Mahindra RoadMaster after understanding the requirement of this product in the market. We seek input from the contractors and always try to provide solutions to their problems. Both for existing and new products.
How do you address any challenges or limitations that may impact the efficiency of your equipment in various operating conditions or project scenarios?
As mentioned earlier, our R&D and product planning department do research and surveys both internally and externally as and when required. Therefore, whenever an issue is identified, it is taken care of immediately. In terms of service, we ensure that a complaint is closed within 48 hours/2 days. Our sales and service team are fully trained and capable of resolving any such issue that arises.
