Managing Director,
Schwing Stetter India.
XCMG wheel loaders are fitted with electronic fuel injection system which optimizes the fuel consumption.
Schwing Stetter India sells and services XCMG loaders all of which comes with electronic engine confirming to BSIII norms. We offer wheel loaders with high power and torque coefficient, low fuel consumption, as well as with a level three dust filter, says V. G. Sakthikumar, Managing Director, Schwing Stetter India. Excerpts from the interview
Brief us on the range of wheel loaders offered by Schwing Stetter India?
Schwing Stetter India sells and services XCMG wheel loaders which are available in terms of bucket capacities such as 1.8T (LW180K), 3T (LW300FV) and 5T (ZL50GV). 1.8T loader, 3T loaders are mainly used in the RMC applications and 5T loaders are used in crusher applications. All the variants are ARAI certified. All these variants come with electronic engine confirming to BSIII norms and offers high power and torque coefficient, low fuel consumption, as well as with a level three dust filter.
What are the key market trends in terms of hp / tonnage?
The key trends are 1.8T, 3T and 5T and of late, we are finding shift towards 4m3 and 4.5 m3 buckets to complete projects at a faster rate.
What are the key features built-in in your range to optimize fuel efficiency; helps reduce cost per tonne and safety?
All the machines are fitted with electronic fuel injection system which optimizes the fuel consumption. The machines come with a low gear and high gear mode, which will also optimize the fuel consumption while the machine is in operation and travel mode. The differential and the tyre tread patterns are designed to deliver the smooth movement of the machine on wet and uneven surfaces. So, whenever the machine is working on marshy lands, lesser power will be required for manoeuvrability.
With respect to cost per tonnage, the optimizations have been done with respect to engine as mentioned above. It has the prolonged oil drain interval and filter change intervals.
For safety, the machine comes with a range of emergency stop buttons, optional ROPS and FOPS operator
cabin, pressure indicators, temperature indicators, fire extinguisher, steering limit controls, operator cabin with laminated glasses and air operated service brakes.
How have you been able to leverage the digital platforms to enhance the performance of your range of wheel loaders specially to optimize cycle time and accurate loading?
Digital features in our loaders starts with the LCD display where all the temperatures and pressures are indicated and a warning sign is given while the parameters becomes abnormal. Loaders are provided with optional weighing system, where the bucket load carefully captures data for all the scoops. The production tonnage can be printed with this system. Apart from this the GPS system, another optional feature enables the owner to have the control on the machine’s location, critical parameter, machine utility factor and fuel consumption as well.
Could you talk about the bucket options on offer? What are the key design features here?
Our standard bucket capacities are 1.1 cum, 1.8 cu.m and 3.0 cu.m for RMC and crusher applications. For mining applications, we supply bucket capacity of 2.7 cu.m and for coal handling, 2.7 cu.m, 4.0 cu.m and 4.5 cu.m are available on request for special applications. When it comes to designing, the ground engaging parts have been carefully designed using special wear resistance materials for longer wear life and higher productivity. Main focus is given on the bucket’s profile curve because it plays a major role in productivity. A carefully designed bucket profile will give you higher material quantity in a single scoop and lesser dumping time.
What are the attachments available for the wheel loader?
Attachments are coal buckets, rock buckets, side dump buckets, snow plow, sweepers, clamp buckets, tree handlers and wood grapplers. Coal and rock buckets are mainly used in the mining segment and potential here is equal to the RMC segment.
What is the current overall demand – supply scenario for wheel loaders from different verticals?
Current overall demand – supply scenario for wheel loaders from different verticals such as mining, general construction, material handling in quarries and in ports are 3000 loaders with a 40 percent, Year on Year growth.
