What kind of construction equipment operator training and skilling is provided by your company? How is the operator training program structured?

At CASE Construction Equipment, we are committed to providing comprehensive training and skilling programs for construction equipment operators. Our aim is to enhance their abilities and enable them to operate machines efficiently. We have recently celebrated first anniversary of our Skill Development Centre called “Hunar,” located in Sonvai, Rau near Pithampur. This centre plays a significant role in contributing to the Central Government’s Skill India Mission.

The training program at Hunar focuses specifically on Loader Backhoe operation by providing in-depth theoretical classes and practical training, covering technical skills, product and process knowledge, health and safety, and soft skills grooming. This includes interpersonal skills, personal management, work-life sensitivity, and life skills. Additionally, basic computer knowledge assessment and certification are offered to ensure trainees stay updated with upcoming technologies in the segment.

The practical training component of the program involves hands-on experience with Loader Backhoes, incorporating the latest technologies, for a total of 110 hours throughout the training period. Trainees also receive 40 hours of product-specific training to deepen their understanding of the latest technologies in the field. To ensure the competency and credibility of our trainees, we collaborate with SEEDS (Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society) to provide third-party certification through the Sector Skill Council, specifically the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council.

What specific topics are covered in the operator training program like equipment operation and controls, safety procedures and protocols, preventive maintenance etc.?

The operator training program at CASE Construction Equipment covers a wide range of specific topics to provide a comprehensive skill set to trainees. Equipment operation and controls are thoroughly taught, ensuring trainees understand the functions of various controls, levers, buttons, and switches specific to construction equipment like Loader Backhoes. Safety procedures and protocols play a crucial role in the program, emphasizing the importance of creating a safe working environment. Trainees learn about safety guidelines, the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), hazard identification, and adherence to safety protocols during equipment operation.

Preventive maintenance is a key topic covered in the program, teaching trainees about regular equipment inspections, fluid level checks, and basic maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and durability. Troubleshooting and basic repairs are also addressed, empowering operators to identify and resolve minor equipment issues promptly to minimize downtime. Product knowledge is emphasized, providing trainees with a deep understanding of the features, functionalities, and capabilities of CASE Construction Equipment products. This knowledge enables operators to utilize the equipment effectively and maximize its potential on the job site.

The training program also focuses on worksite safety and hazard awareness, educating trainees about identifying potential hazards and implementing proper safety measures. Effective communication and teamwork skills are developed to facilitate clear communication on the worksite and promote coordination with other operators and personnel.

How do you assess the effectiveness of your operator training programs?

We employ a range of assessment methods to evaluate the effectiveness of our training programs. Performance evaluations are conducted to assess trainees’ practical skills and proficiency in operating construction equipment safely and efficiently. Knowledge tests are utilized to evaluate their understanding of equipment operation, safety protocols, and maintenance procedures. Practical skills assessments provide hands-on evaluation of trainees’ ability to perform specific tasks related to equipment operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.

We also value trainees’ feedback and opinions through surveys and feedback forms, allowing us to gather insights into their training experience and make necessary improvements. Furthermore, monitoring trainees’ performance in their actual work environments provides valuable data on the practical application of their skills. Employer feedback plays a crucial role in assessing the impact of our training programs. By seeking input from employers who have hired our trained operators, we gain insights into their performance, work ethic, and adherence to safety protocols. This feedback helps us evaluate the practical applicability and effectiveness of our training initiatives.

By utilizing these assessment methods, we continually strive to improve our training programs and ensure that our trainees are well-equipped and proficient as construction equipment operators. The data and feedback collected allow us to refine our programs and deliver high-quality training that meets the needs and expectations of both trainees and employers.

Do you collaborate with external entities or organizations to enhance operator training?

In order to enhance operator training and ensure the competency and credibility of trainees, we collaborate with external entities and organizations. One such collaboration is with SEEDS (Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society), which helps us in providing third-party certification through the Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council. Moreover, the program curriculum is aligned with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) which helps in delivering comprehensive and high-quality training programs. Furthermore, it empowers operators with the necessary skills and knowledge for operating any construction equipment effectively and safely.
