We believe that sustainable construction equipment will play a critical role in the future of the construction industry.
Rakesh Modi, Chairman, Mtandt Group
How important is sustainability to your company’s mission and values?
Sustainability is an integral part of the Mtandt Group’s mission and values. Our company is committed to creating a positive impact on the environment and society by providing sustainable products and services to our customers.
What types of sustainable construction equipment does your company manufacture, and how do they differ from traditional equipment?
We offer and manufacture sustainable construction equipment, including electric and hybrid-powered aerial work platforms, scaffoldings, and access equipment. These products are designed to be more energy-efficient, produce fewer emissions, and have a lower environmental impact than traditional equipment. We have introduced a range of rough terrain scissors with working height up to 32 meters and rough terrain boom lift with working height up to 44 meters in an electric-powered version instead of using Fossil Fuel.
We also have introduced an “Oil-Free” range of slab scissors and order pickers that uses mechanical actuators instead of hydraulic cylinders and consumes 75% less energy.
What specific technologies or features do you incorporate into your sustainable construction equipment (e.g. electric or hybrid power, reduced emissions, recyclable materials)?
Our sustainable construction equipment incorporates advanced technologies and features such as electric or hybrid power, regenerative braking, energy-efficient motors, and the use of recyclable and eco-friendly materials. These features not only reduce the environmental impact of our equipment but also offer significant cost savings and improved performance for our customers.
How does the cost of sustainable construction equipment compare to traditional equipment, and what steps is your company taking to make sustainable equipment more affordable?
The cost of sustainable construction equipment is generally higher than traditional equipment due to the higher cost of advanced technologies and eco-friendly materials. However, we are taking steps to make our sustainable equipment more affordable by leveraging economies of scale, exploring alternative financing models, and partnering with government initiatives to provide incentives for adopting sustainable equipment.
How does your company ensure that the equipment is environmentally friendly throughout its entire lifecycle, from production to disposal?
We ensure that our equipment is environmentally friendly throughout its entire lifecycle by adopting sustainable production practices, using eco-friendly materials, reducing waste and emissions, and promoting responsible disposal and recycling practices.
How does your company measure the environmental impact of the equipment, and what metrics does it use to track sustainability?
We measure the environmental impact of our equipment through a comprehensive set of sustainability metrics, including carbon footprint, energy consumption, water usage, waste reduction, and recycling rates. We use these metrics to track our progress and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
How does your company support the adoption of sustainable construction practices among its customers, and what resources or services do you provide to help them transition to sustainable equipment?
We support the adoption of sustainable construction practices among our customers by providing resources and services such as training programs, technical support, and financing options. We also work closely with our customers to understand their sustainability goals and develop customized solutions that meet their specific needs.
What challenges has your company encountered in producing sustainable construction equipment, and how have you addressed them?
We have encountered several challenges in producing sustainable construction equipment, including higher costs, technical complexities, and limited availability of eco-friendly materials. To address these challenges, we have invested in research and development to create innovative solutions, collaborated with industry partners to promote sustainable practices, and optimized our production processes to reduce waste and emissions.
What other steps is your company taking to promote sustainability in the construction industry beyond producing sustainable equipment?
In addition to producing sustainable equipment, we are taking other steps to promote sustainability in the construction industry, including investing in renewable energy, reducing waste and emissions, promoting sustainable supply chain practices, and engaging with stakeholders to drive positive change in the industry. We believe that by working together, we can create a more sustainable future for all.
Apart from manufacturing sustainable equipment, we have introduced “rebuilding” of used equipment with just 20% resources of new equipment but adding 80% of additional life. In other words, we add eight years more life to equipment that has already been used for ten years (its predicted useful life) by using only 20% of the resources required to build new equipment.
