How are skill development initiatives progressing in the country for equipment operators? What is the support from the government in operator training/skill development?

Schwing Stetter India, through its operator Training school affiliated with NSDC (National Skill Development Corporation) and IESC (Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council) has been constantly upgrading the technology skill level of its customer personnel through dedicated Training camps. The latest technologies such as Telematics, remote access for equipment trouble shooting are part of the Training curriculum at Schwing. The Training/Skill development councils formed in each state with the support from the Central government skill development schemes.

How is the scarcity of skilled operators affecting the prospects of the construction equipment market?

The fact that the manpower, especially the migrant workforce had become scarce for production, transportation, placement of concrete, and skilled operators has become a considerable obstacle for the CE industry and its customers especially after the displacement of labour that happened during the pandemic. Our customers prefer a certified skilled operator for all their machines so that the machine functions at optimum level efficiency, whenever it is required. To match the requirements caused by this scarcity, Schwing’s fully dedicated training department has been going strong since 2004 and has been conducting continuous training programs and offering certification of experienced and fresher operators to help our customers to get the maximum output from Schwing machines.

How are the operator-training initiatives progressing at the company?

With multiple batches going in and out of our training centers, Schwing Stetter India is well recognized and certified operator trainer in India with the support of NSDC and IESC. We have also forged collaborations with the TNSDC – Tamil Nadu Skill Development Council to provide free operator training for Tamilians from demarcated regions as per directions of the TNSDC portal. We also offer a similar free of cost training program in Assam with the support from ASDM – Assam Skill Development Mission.

What are the latest technologies used in the operator training programme?

With the digitalization of the education industry coming in to the vogue, the training materials and sessions that are provided on digital platforms are more immersive and easily comprehendible. With the same concept in mind, we have facilitated our training centers with high-tech simulators, digitalized classroom tools and detailed training manuals that help us bring out well-informed and skilled operators to the CE industry with proven practical knowledge on our machines.

What are your future plans for operator training activities?

Over the past 20 years, we have successfully trained close to 14,000 plus individuals in handling concreting machinery. At our new facility, our focus has been on providing modernized training and empowering residents at Cheyyar and nearby districts.
