In this present uncertain situation, where do you see maximum opportunity within the larger logistic space?

As Covid pandemic has disrupted supply chain distribution in warehousing and logistics space, the new trends have been in shape. We foresee new opportunities in ‘In-City warehouse’ that will streamline seamless last mile distribution, reduce transportation cost, and improve delivery turnaround time. The dearth to create multi-level warehouses within city limits needs retrofitting of stressed assets by releasing pent-up assets that helps in capital unlocking. Covid induced economic lockdown and curbs stimulated the demand for e-commerce players to come to rescue for catering the uptick in consumer demand across Metro’s, Tier 2 and 3 cities. The digital disruptive wave led to the transformation in the consumer behavior and buying methodologies anticipating quick delivery periods. The evolving consumption pattern led to competitive market conditions, pressurizing retailers to secure warehousing space much closer to their customer base. This stood as a prime reason for growth in demand across tier cities which needed to expand their warehousing spaces for additional storage to de-risk their supply chain.

What do you think are the right skill sets for warehousing / logistic professionals of the future to evolve alongside technology interventions?

Post Covid-19, the sector will shift gears with digitization, technology innovations and automation. The new age professionals need to be at par excellence with global best practices, well-versed with technology know-how, cultivate skills like market research and insights, gauge industry trends with changing consumer behavior and economic developments, risk averse and agile in attitude. Also, one needs to have a sound knowledge of demand planning and project management.

Do you think the ongoing logistics projects would be further propelled by the pandemic disaster?

Logistics is a burgeoning sector in India, catering the large demographics across niche markets. The need for robust supply-chain management & unhampered distribution has emerged as a clear winner post this pandemic catastrophe. Catering to the rising demand of varied customer segments, industries and markets, the logistics sector needs to scale up its operation to be the next sunshine sector of the economy. Industry along with the government participation needs to further expedite the development of world class infrastructure and fast track approvals, policy and projects.

How do you ensure speedy, resilient, and efficient supply-chain operations? Have we moved to an era where it has become imperative for warehousing / logistic firms to show deftness in offering out-of-the-box solutions?

Greenbase is committed to ensure efficient supply chain operations by expanding its diverse network, developing ecosystem partnerships, building warehouses with good inventory capacity, providing room for multisource & nearshoring to the occupiers.

Given the country’s distinct set of challenges, what do you believe are the areas where investments should be targeted in order to strengthen the country’s warehousing / logistic chain?

The hugely populated Indian economy is rich with diversified demography. The dream to become a global hub of manufacturing will fuel the high gear demand for robust supply chain management. To cater the rising demand, industry needs fast paced mega infrastructure development that facilitates seamless distribution of goods, multi-modal logistic parks, warehousing zones and cold chain storages.
