Innovation is at the forefront, driving the development of cleaner, more energy-efficient machinery.
Jalaj Gupta,
What sustainable technologies and practices has your company implemented in your range of construction equipment?
Understanding the need of the hour, Mahindra Construction Equipment has introduced the Mahindra EarthMaster SX/ VX backhoe loader an environment-friendly machine with significantly less maintenance, better operational kinematics and dynamics, and phenomenal fuel efficiency that saves at least a litre per hour. This model offers best-in-class fuel efficiency of 4.5 litres per hour, powered by the proven Mahindra DITEC engine.
How do you foresee the role of green technologies evolving in the construction equipment industry over the next decade?
We believe that green technologies will become central to the construction equipment industry very soon. We expect a surge in the adoption of such machinery, which are leading to significant reductions in carbon emissions. To address these demands, the industry is embracing a paradigm shift. Innovation is at the forefront, driving the development of cleaner, more energy-efficient machinery. Energy efficiency and real-time equipment monitoring are becoming increasingly prevalent, reducing the carbon footprint of construction projects. From optimising fuel efficiency to harnessing renewable energy sources, the industry is pioneering solutions that resonate with the collective imperative for a greener tomorrow. By enhancing the operational fuel efficiency of our offerings, we aim to significantly curtail energy consumption and emissions, contributing to a more sustainable future across the construction industry.
What challenges do you face in incorporating green technologies, and how are you addressing them?
While adopting green technology has some initial challenges, we are addressing them by investing in research and development to drive down costs, collaborating or Developing technologies to ensure seamless integration, and building the necessary infrastructure. Additionally, we establish training institutes for customer operators and skill-enhancing programs for our dealer after-sales teams to ensure a smooth transition to greener solutions and maximize their effectiveness.
How does your company plan to continue innovating in the realm of sustainable construction equipment?
We have already launched our products in compliance with new emission norms (CEV) across the range. This achievement demonstrates our commitment to environmental responsibility and our ability to stay ahead of market trends. In the Backhoe loader segment Mahindra is among top 5 player in India but in Motor graders, MCE is the market leader with a share of 26 %%. These machines are used in maintaining road surfaces, grading, levelling, material removal etc. Our estimate shows that backhoe industry will grow by 4 to 5 % over next 3 years while Motor grader segment to grow by about 20-25%. MCE looks to expand only after 2-3 years.
What are your thoughts on the regulatory landscape for green construction equipment, and how is your company preparing to meet these standards?
The regulatory landscape for green construction equipment is becoming increasingly stringent, with governments worldwide implementing stricter emissions standards and sustainability requirements. At Mahindra Construction Equipment, we are proactively preparing to meet these standards by investing in advanced technologies and sustainable practices. Our equipment is designed to exceed current regulations, and we continuously monitor and adapt to evolving standards.
In line with this, our iMAXX Telematics system offers comprehensive solutions to enhance efficiency and compliance.
