How impactful is the substantial budgetary allocations on infrastructure development on the growth trajectory on concrete equipment segment?  Also tell us which specific sector is expected to trigger the demand drive?

Demand for concrete equipment has grown back to 2019 levels for most equipment categories. The true impact of the budgetary allocation on equipment demand will be felt closer to when the announced projects are underway. That said, the Government’s commitment to building and bolstering India’s infrastructure is very clear. And the concrete equipment industry will have a big role to play in the years to come. Infrastructure and affordable housing have been the major drivers for concrete equipment in recent years, this trend is expected to continue.

Is there a perceptible shift towards ‘greener’ technologies in the production / transportation / and placement of concrete? What are your initiatives on production processes and equipment solutions offered?

Putzmeister has always focussed on ensuring that our equipment meets and exceeds environmental protection standards. From reduced oil consumption and noise levels in our pumps, to covered inclined belt conveyors in our Batching Plants for cleaner aggregate movement – our equipment is designed to ensure the health and safety of the operators and crew on site, and safeguard the environment.

While there is a great appreciation for environmental conditions within India, the challenge is always that of cost. For instance, internationally Putzmeister has just announced the launch of a hybrid Truck Mounted Boom Pump –Putzmeister iONTRON. Available in the 20-meter to 40-meter class range, the iONTRON Truck Mounted Boom Pump offers customers emission free and noise free pumping. We have no immediate plan of introducing this for the Indian markets.

How have you been able to leverage the advantages of technology disruptors – ICT / IoT and big data analytics etc – in your product portfolio?

Putzmeister is known for offering cutting-edge technology solutions. We introduced Putzmeister Machine Cockpit back in 2018 for our Truck Mounted Boom Pumps. Customers can remotely monitor the movement of their fleet andtrack key pumping parameters real time. We are also able to diagnose any faults remotely and address these quickly to ensure minimal disruptions on the jobsite. Our Batching Plants have been IoT enabled since we started offering them back in 2016. Customers can remotely monitor the plant operations and output real time. Our teams work closely with customers to take advantage to data analytics to optimize their productivity, machine uptime and profitability.

How geared up is your company to exploit the increasing potential in the concrete equipment?

Putzmeister offers customers solutions to the whole gamut of concrete equipment–producing/mixing, transporting and placing/pumping. We also offer specialized concrete spraying equipment with applications in tunnelling and mining. Our mortar equipment helps customers with plastering and has applications such as grouting for the precast segment. More recently, we also started offering Sany’s range of concrete pumps and consolidated Batching Plant and Transit Mixers offered by Putzmeister and Sany to offer customers dual-brand Putzmeister/Sany plants and mixers. This expanded portfolio helps us offer differentiated solutions to a wider market. We have been steadily ramping up our production capacities at our plant in Goa and are fully geared to cater to our customers’ growing demands.
