What are the demand outlook and the growth drivers for excavators of different capacities for general construction, roads and highways and mining sector? 

The construction equipment market in India has grown considerably in the last few years and continues to do so. The Budget 2021-22 has put a lot of focus on reviving the infrastructure sector. The government’s effort towards further enhancing the roads and highways projects to 7,400 new projects is a welcome step which will ensure a better year for the infrastructure sector as well as for the construction equipment industry. Additionally, the coal mining sector is also going through a major reform currently. Under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the government auctioned 41 coal blocks, with liberal terms and conditions, for commercial mining to ensure competition, transparency, participation of the private sector and ease of doing business.

As per a report by Off-Highway Research, the long-term future trend for the excavator industry remains positive and demand is expected to grow with a CAGR of 16 percent during 2021-2023 and reach 28,000 units. Excavators account for a bulk of revenue at present and with the support of the government their demand will increase doubly. The government has announced more projects and initiatives and all these factors will contribute to the growth of the market in the near future.

Advancements in attachment coupling technology combined with new products mean materials processing can increasingly take place at the end of an excavator arm. To what extent you have been able to leverage the advantages of disruptive technologies in the range of excavators?

We launched our CX220C last year in the Indian markets. Our excavator comes with the world class FPT Industrial engine helps in saving up to 4% more fuel efficiency due to hydraulic system control and 6% better efficiency from FPT engine. The excavator also has 5 energy saving controls that help in constant consumption monitoring and ECO gauge function keeping you updated about the machine’s engine consumption. This excavator focuses in providing comfort to the operator. The HVAC cabin has an integrated 7-inch LCD monitor for real time parameter monitoring. An on-board diagnosing system is added to the machine that gives a full measure or status of the machine with notifications on issues or need for repair. Incorporated with an ergonomically designed mechanical seat which has 8 different adjustments it enhances the operator comfort and hence productivity. A system of vibration dampening is also introduced which protects against whole body fatigue and gives maximum productivity.

How has data analytics and sensor technologies impacted your cab design for excavators?

Technological upgrades are a perennial part of CE industry and CASE has always been a technology first brand. Our machines come equipped with a multitude of smart features such as an eagle eye telematics system which helps in monitoring the performance, security, and efficiency of the machine in real-time. Recently, we also launched our SiteWatch platform with an all-new dashboard, more intuitive navigation and new overview sections that highlight critical information without requiring the user to search extensively for the data.

Our cabin includes an ergonomically designed seat with 8 different adjustments which provides a better lever position to assure the safety of the operators. Visibility of the site and surroundings is important to ensure the safety of the operator as well as the people on the site. Our excavator cabin is also equipped with a Vibration dampening system that protects against whole body fatigue for all day productivity. CASE India’s R&D team put special focus on providing outstanding visibility for the operators through its wide glazed windows present in our equipment and an openable roof window to give better visibility on the top. A right-hand console includes advanced engine throttle control that determines working mode selection. The console is equipped with a luminosity switches to ensure that the graphics are clear and easily readable in bright sunlight. At CASE, we believe in technology that enables and will continue to do so.

What kinds of after-sales support initiatives have been embraced by you to maintain customer satisfaction and brand value?

At CASE, we care about our customers and their business as well. So to decrease downtime and increase productivity for our customers, we have a dedicated aftermarket team which provides quality parts and services.

CASE offers optional extended warranties and service support, so customers can use their machines more confidently knowing that CASE will support them through the machine’s lifecycle. CASE Care is a cost-effective service contract under which we pro-actively monitor the machine which helps in preventive maintenance. CASE Protect is a comprehensive extended warranty which ensures expert care, round the clock availability and hassle-free operations.

For Fleet owners, CASE offers ‘Maintenance Contracts’ with dedicated service manpower available at site to ensure uptime. In terms of spare parts and product support, we have a good amount of stock supplies at key locations and even in these challenging times we are delivering parts and scheduling services via our comprehensive dealer network, keeping all the safety precautions in mind.
