What was your company’s focus at Bauma Munich this time?

Wirtgen Group‘s and John Deere’s joint trade show theme was ‘The Future in Road building – Smart. Safe. Sustainable.’

The Wirtgen Group supports its customers in rapidly and cost-effectively meeting the growing demand for infrastructure while simultaneously fulfilling future tendering criteria relating to environmental protection and the safety of both people and nature.

In addition to solutions for individual machines and their drive technologies, we’ve been exhibiting a selection of complete production systems. This is where the greatest environmental and financial potential lies in the overall construction process – from the selection of the optimum combination of machines and the right construction method to telematics and assistance systems.

In the Technology Zone, the Wirtgen Group product brands and John Deere were showcasing sustainable technologies and digital solutions that already make machine operation easier for users today and enable job site documentation. And we also gave an overview of how in the future, entire construction sites can be planned, monitored, and analyzed in real time.

How has Bauma Munich helped in leveraging opportunity for business development and growth?   

The Wirtgen Group joint trade show appearance with John Deere was a resounding success. The interest in our company and our innovative and sustainable products was simply overwhelming.

Our participation in the industry leading trade fair was the most successful in the history of the Wirtgen Group and the perfect way to introduce John Deere Wheel Loaders to the European market.

What are the bottlenecks and suggestions to iron out those challenges in the construction equipment industry?

One of the cornerstones of future road construction will be technologies that advance digitalization at jobsites and support the automation of work and machine processes. The electrification of construction machines is another trend that leads to increased autonomy and sustainability in road construction. 

But what really matters is whether specific solutions develop from these trends, so that customers can put real products and technologies into practice to meet these challenges – like the ones Wirtgen Group has shown in Munich and which are either already available or coming onto the market in the following months.

What sectors are driving growth for your company?

Increasing global population has led to a growing need for infrastructure. At the same time, the world’s road networks are showing visible signs of aging in many places. But almost everywhere, the repair work that is desperately needed has fallen behind. The sustainable solutions for road construction, which is already high, will continue to rise. Together with John Deere, Wirtgen Group offers our customers the most comprehensive machine program for the entire road construction process chain.

More than ever, we are proving our promise – ‘Close to our customers’ – with consultations from our experienced implementation experts, fast service times, and the transfer of knowledge from our Wirtgen Group specialists to our customers.

In addition, Wirtgen Group and John Deere have bundled our reciprocal synergies in the field of road construction to increase the growth potential for both companies.

We see strong potential for growth in the crushing and screening plant market, which is good news for Kleemann. Wirtgen Group‘s consistent investments in this segment should pay full dividends.

Which continent has been drawing more demand for your products?

Wirtgen Group products are in global demand, so the company is developing appropriate market solutions for customers to be able to respond optimally to regional conditions. With our plant in Pune, for example, we are very well positioned to meet the needs of the Indian market.

The Indian government is focusing on increasing the road connectivity by extending national highways, expressways, economic and industrial corridors, village roads etc. India is also encouraging the usage of innovative materials, automation and machine control technologies to improve efficiency and to lower the environmental impact. The trend indicates that road construction will increase in India and new technologies will be required to fulfill this need. The Wirtgen Group is uniquely positioned to meet the requirements of our Indian customers.

The goal is to strengthen Wirtgen Group‘s position as a leader in technology. With the high level of innovation, we think we have a good chance of reaching this goal. Our sustainable solutions will help us here, and we’ve already shown a variety of these to our customers through our world premiere machines and technologies at Bauma 2022.
