What do you think are the latest ‘smart technology’ trends in the manufacturing sector, especially in the manufacturing of construction / mining equipment and what do you think is the impact of this on the manufacturing processes, enterprise value chain and supply chain?

Despite the rampant use of technology in the construction and mining equipment sector, India still has a lot of scope to infiltrate technology usage in every step. For instance, intermediate technology is still being used for underground mining. However, smart technologies like IoT, Telematics and Automation are likely to continue creating a major impact on the manufacturing of construction and mining equipment sector. These include automating maintenance and machine operations, improving visibility, ensuring the safety of not only people but also the equipment and in the overall shift from preventive to predictive maintenance. Today, technology based on long range wireless communication, sensors and smart gateways is helping in building smart solutions to construction and mining activities in terms of safety and environmental safety. 

With investments happening across the country in Infrastructure, rebuilding and iron ore mines auction, there will be an increased demand for hi-tech crushers and screen in time to come. Incorporation of Telematics in Powerscreen Crushing and screening plants has been the latest development in the equipment sector and it has contributed significantly to make the site operation easier. It helps the machine by enhancing Engine life cycle management, enables fuel consumption monitoring from the office rooms, and helps in taking cost reduction measures, further improving the site operations.
