What are the key safety features integrated into your equipment?

Safeticon (Nexa Global Infra Solutions) represents in India multiple OEM partners each of them is having different categories of equipment with Platform Basket SRL, Italy is specialized in design and manufacturing of Spiderlift from 13 – 54-meter height range, Railroad Access Platforms, Vertical Mast Lifts and Mini cranes, while Multitel Pagliero SpA, Italy designs and manufactures Truck Mounted Aerial Work Platforms from10 meter to 77.5-meter height. Many functional safety features are installed on all types of machines as compulsory devices required for CE certifications. 

Multitel truck mounted Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWPs) can be equipped with a wide range of advanced features designed to enhance operator safety and improve the overall efficiency of operations. These safety-enhancing features include an automatic control system for chassis inclination, which ensures that the MEWP remains stable even when operating on uneven or sloped surfaces. This system is complemented by an automatic stabilisation mechanism that adjusts to the ground conditions and provides a secure working platform for the operator. Furthermore, our MEWPs come with automated movement sequences to facilitate the opening or closing of the platform, thereby reducing the likelihood of human error and increasing operational efficiency. In addition to these automation features, our equipment can be fitted with obstacle detection systems that help prevent collisions.  Another crucial safety feature incorporated into our MEWPs is the operator presence detection system. This system ensures that the operator is always accounted for during use, adding an additional layer of security to prevent unauthorized or unsafe operation. All of these features comply with the relevant international safety standards, guaranteeing that our MEWPs provide the highest levels of protection for operators. To ensure full compliance with these international standards, our MEWPs undergo rigorous examination and testing conducted by independent third-party certification bodies.

What new advancements have been introduced in your equipment to enhance operator safety? 

Options like: Anti-entrapment device; Inter-comm system, emergency powered systems, perfectly tuned machine software management system and many more.

How do you ensure compliance with national and international safety standards in your equipment?

All our PLATFORM BASKET Machines are manufactured complying with CE rules 2006/42/CE; 2004/30/CE; 2014/35/CE; 2000/14/CE; EN 280-2013+A1: 2015; EN ISO 12100:2010; EN60204-1:20018 hence equipped with many compulsory features like Overload device, working Envelope monitoring etc. for our Spiderlifts.

Also, our OEM’s both Multitel Pagliero and Platform Basket both perform extensive assessments to verify that our equipment meets all necessary safety and operational requirements. By obtaining certification from these recognized bodies, we provide our customers with the assurance that our MEWPs adhere to the most stringent safety and performance criteria in the industry.

How does your company incorporate automation and digital technologies (such as telematics, AI, and IoT) to improve equipment safety?

While in Multitel truck mounted aerial work platform we provide mandatory factory fitted telematics system in addition to the built-in safety features of our MEWPs. This helps our service department benefitting from advanced telemetry functionalities that are integrated into our equipment. These telemetry features enable real-time monitoring of the MEWPs, allowing for remote diagnostics, predictive maintenance, and improved fleet management. Operators and service teams can access critical data on equipment performance, including usage patterns, fault detection, and maintenance schedules, leading to reduced downtime and enhanced operational efficiency. By leveraging these cutting-edge technologies, our service department can deliver more proactive and effective support, ensuring that our MEWPs remain in optimal working condition throughout their lifespan.

Meanwhile, in Platform Basket Spiderlfit and Railroad Access Platform provides factory fitted telemetry solutions as an optional accessory.

How does your company approach the ergonomics of operator cabins and control systems to enhance safety and reduce fatigue-related accidents?

All the controls are ergonomically designed by Platform Basket Spiderlifts to ensure Operators is able to identify various control at the basket and ground. Moreover, each Spiderlfit is provided with radio remote controls as a standard for ease in operation/travel through narrow areas. All basket control and ground controls provided in the truck mounted platforms of Multitel are designed to ensure ease of operation by the operator

How do you conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments at your manufacturing plants? 

This is done according to ISO 9001 requirements in Platform Basket SRL, Italy. As part of these audits, Multitel PaglieroSpA perform thorough analyses of our production processes, supply chain, and overall workplace safety to identify any potential areas for improvement. By continuously monitoring and refining our practices, we maintain the validity of our system certifications, which are issued by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), a globally recognized certification body known for its rigorous assessment standards. One of the key elements of our commitment to workplace safety is the comprehensive analysis of site risks. Our teams carry out detailed risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards in our facilities. This process involves evaluating all operational aspects, including equipment handling, work environment conditions, and employee activities. By proactively addressing risks, we create a safer and more secure work environment for our employees, minimizing the likelihood of accidents and injuries.

What kind of regular health check-ups and wellness programs are conducted for workers and how frequently?

In addition to site risk assessments, we also implement health monitoring programs for our employees. Regular health checks are conducted at legally mandated intervals to ensure that our workforce remains in good physical condition and is fit to perform their assigned tasks safely. These health checks are an integral part of our broader commitment to employee well-being, as they help detect potential health issues early and provide appropriate interventions when necessary.
