What is your view on the role of skill development/operator training in CE operations and maintenance?
The launch of newer machines with advanced features requires the right type of skill development and learning to ensure efficiency. It is also necessary to ensure utmost safety while operating the machines on site. CASE aims to provide all the support to the customers from the time of purchase to after-sales maintenance.
As investment in infrastructure is increasing, there is a need to train unskilled operators for better functioning of the system. Hence, we train the operators and give ample instructions to use the machines effectively and efficiently. At CASE, we have a fully structured three-day commissioning process which is followed by the ‘After Market Team’ to train and educate the operators on the functions and maintenance of the machines. We provide constant support to the customers and update them about new parts and features.
What is the current scenario of availability of skilled/certified equipment operators in India?
While there are numerous infrastructure projects announced in India, we still lack in terms of trained manpower with adequate skills in the market. Due to the onset of the pandemic, the industry faced several challenges to train the operators. However, it is adapting, and a speedy recovery is seen which is fueling the demand for advanced equipment and skilled manpower.
The industry is addressing the issue with a fair approach of introducing training programs traditionally and via the digital mode. We are certain that training the operators will highly contribute to the development of infrastructure in the country. Different programmes and schemes will further help the operators be updated about the advancements in the system.
According to you, how are the skill development initiatives progressing in Indian CE industry? What are the challenges faced?
While the industry manages to give the finest services and training to operators in order for them to utilize the equipment properly and remain up to date on new components, there are a number of challenges faced in order to successfully train customers across the country. Over the last two years, the pandemic has been a major concern and we dealt with it by reaching out to operators via the digital platform. Other obstacles, such as operator literacy, might make it difficult to speak without reluctance.
Besides the unforeseen challenges, there may be technical errors, lack of specialized & robust stimulators for specific machines for training, portable stimulators for onsite training and lack of training centre availability.
What are the steps needed to bridge the gap of demand-availability of skilled operators?
The CE sector is working towards training the operators through various programmes.
CASE has been taking measures to train operators and improve their user experience to bridge the gap of demand for skilled operators. We are building an operator database to make it easier to reach out to themand solve their problems.
We also have an operator app for clients that enable them to identify the nearest center for any support on the machines so that they can stay connected and available. We are constantly involved in offering training programmes and skill improvement programmes to operators to increase their knowledge of existing products and new upgrades in the market.
What are your company’s initiatives in operator training & skill developments?
CASE values its customers, and as a company, we offer a variety of services and training to our customers on machine operation and maintenance. We continually give training on equipment delivery, ‘After Market service’, and offer online training, if necessary, due to unforeseen circumstances. Our Service Campaigns reach out to operators on a regular basis to advise them on the optimal maintenance methods for specific machine subassemblies. This service can assist the operator in better understanding the equipment and increasing field productivity.
CASE offers online operator training on a regular basis for the benefit of its clients. The team also offers further assistance through online tutorials on the CASE YouTube channel, which clarify the functions of the equipment. During the uncertain times of the pandemic, we even continued to give training support through Online Training programmes to enhance their skills for improved machine operation. In addition, we provide Pocket Booklets for Machine Maintenance and decals on specific equipment for regular maintenance. These booklets can serve as a one-stop source for operators to become acquainted with the features of the machine.
CASE also has an interesting Operators Loyalty Program known as the ‘CASE Sankalp Program.’ It is a technology-driven programme created by the team to keep the operators informed and up to date on the latest machinery and technical breakthroughs that may assist them in terms of efficiency. It was designed specifically to engage equipment operators and keep them up to speed on CNH promotional initiatives via their mobile phones. This programme encourages operators to provide feedback on the performance of genuine parts as well as to participate in the operator’s skill enhancement initiatives.
