How do you perceive the opportunities getting better for the OEMs in the construction equipment industry as the Bharatmala project aims to ensure speeding up approval processes to enable quicker execution of projects?
The Government announcement of Bharatmala Pariyojana is the second biggest highway development programme. Bharatmala Pariyojana is different from other existing projects as it focuses on improving the average speed of the road and by shortening the length of the roads and removing the congestions in existing network, which would help in reducing logistics costs.
The development of any nation depends on the transportation networks and the way in which they are maintained. For connecting the areas and maintaining smooth flow of traffic, the construction of new and developed roads are a must. So, with the successful implementation of this Bharatmala project, the Original Equipment Manufacturers of Asphalt Batch Mix Plant, Bitumen Decanting Equipment, Counter Flow Drum Mix Plant and Micro Surfacing Machine of this road construction equipment will definitely develop. Due to this, Bharatmala project equipment companies would get boost in their growth.
How do you see initiatives like ‘Make in India’, PLI scheme etc, further accelerating the growth of the construction equipment sector?
The Initiatives like ‘Make In India’ and ‘Production Linked Incentive’ became primary stepping stones to shape India as an efficient, even-handed and volatile manufacturing development and helped in creating best-in-class manufacturing in the country.
‘Make in India’ initiative by the Government of India leads to the growth in manufacturing sectors and will create millions of manufacturing jobs in the economy.
Alltech Group’s Asphalt Batch Mix Plant, Counter Flow Drum Mix Plants, Bitumen Decanting Solutions and Micro (Slurry) Surfacing Paver are made under the ‘Make In India’ Initiative.
Which of your equipment are employed in the Bharatmala project? What are your major contributions in this project?
Alltech’s Asphalt Batch Mix Plants are installed in various locations under the Bharatmala Project through road contractors like GHV INDIA PVT.LTD. MKC INFRASTRUCTURE LTD @ the Pkg No. 10, 17, 19, 27 & 28. Our major contribution towards this project is Asphalt Batch Mix Plant and Bitumen Decanting Solutions. Due to the excellent combination of strength, toughness and reliability our clients believed in us. And the tough and rigid design tends to last for ages of Asphalt Plant life. We can ensure hassle free maximum production.
Last mile connectivity is crucial. How do you assess the challenges in the Bharatmala project in terms of construction equipment?
Road infrastructure is crucial for economic development and social integration of the country.
Road transport has emerged as the dominant segment in India’s transportation sector. National highways are a very important constituent of road network. As India steps further in a new era of development, the demand for seamless road connectivity and advanced road networks is at an all- time high. To showcase India as a developed nation, the government is working on implementing several road infrastructure development projects like Bharatmala.
Because of large projects like this, with some technological advancement in the field and innovative inventions today, road construction machines are capable of doing complex tasks.
Can you elaborate or provide suggestions that need to be incorporated by the government to ensure not just the success of the programme, but also growth for the construction equipment manufacturers?
As we know ‘Quality Is Everything’, accordingly the resources should be used effectively and we have to eliminate the excess waste. We should adapt the micro surfacing technology due to its advantages like increase in skid resistance, surface restoration and service life to high speed. Such projects are often reopened to traffic within an hour. Because of these quick traffic properties, Micro Surfacing can be applied in a broad range of temperatures and weather conditions. As Micro Surfacing has low energy requirements, it is environmentally safe and does not emit pollutants.
We should also adapt Warm Mix Asphalt Technology because of its properties like; it needs less energy when being mixed and laid. Less fuel is needed, that is why it reduces the fumes emission. This technology does not involve any major modification. The foaming technique is applied to reduce the viscosity of Bitumen. Small amount of water is injected in the Bitumen via foaming nozzles. This will result in large but temporary increase in the volume of binder. Use of this technology will definitely reduce the amount of Bitumen used and also reduction in production temperatures. Warm Mix Asphalt is used on roads in cities and villages where fewer loads are expected and is also used in tunnels.
