Country Manager, Casagrande (India) Piling & Geotechnical Equipment
How do you look at the market for piling rigs in India?
With new Government in place now in Delhi, we are expecting the continuation of policy related to infrastructure development in all sectors especially like Road, Metro rail, Ports, Power and Green Energy and Real estate. A technology driven construction methodology to augment economical, safe and faster project execution timelines needs to be the focus and priority. We expect a consistent increase in demand for foundation equipment’s including piling rigs on year-on-year basis.
What are the key features that differentiate your piling rigs from competitors’?
Casagrande is well established brand having its presence in all five continents and producing a wide range of civil foundation equipment’s with “State of the Art Technology”.
Our machines are multipurpose and can be converted to other related foundation technologies with the aid of suitable conversion kits which entails substantial capital investment saving for contractors. Our Piling machines can be easily converted to Diaphragm Wall, CFA, Stone Columns, Soil Mixing, Soil Displacement and other configurations as our base carrier of the equipment is designed to handle all these applications with preloaded software. The machines are using hydraulic and electronic system with SPM control system “Smart Power Management” for precise and efficient results.
What recent innovations have you introduced in your piling rigs? How do you incorporate new technologies (such as IoT, AI, automation) into your piling rigs? How do your rigs minimize environmental impact (noise, emissions, vibrations)?
Casagrande having its manufacturing based in Italy is manufacturing all its products in compliance with ISO 9001-2015 quality management system since its inception and since year 2023, our factory is following ISO 14001 -2015 with regards to environment Management standards which we all know are very stringent. The machines are powered with latest Euro stage V diesel Engines with reduced exhaust emissions and use of low sulphuric content fuel. The operator cabin is ergonomically designed for user comfort and sound proofing, smart heat exchangers for reduced fuel consumption and overall noise level.
What safety features are integrated into your piling rigs to protect operators and surrounding areas?
The Casagrande Machines are equipped with Protective Roof Guard (FOPS Compliant), Hydraulic lifting canopy over the engine for easy access during inspection and maintenance, handrails, stairs to provide safe accessibility to every point. We provide cameras for panoramic view of area around machine and full visibility of winches and surrounding working area.
What kind of after-sales support do you provide (maintenance, parts, training)?
We have on board factory trained service engineers and machine operators to support our machines in India and they are based out of major towns like Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Chennai to support our customers at a very short notice. We have adequate level of spare parts inventory stocked at Delhi, Chennai and Ahmedabad to support our machines. We also have our Italian technicians visiting Indian job sites regularly for supporting new technology equipment’s and training our Indian service team and customers mechanical team.
What trends do you see shaping the future of the piling rig industry?
The design consultants now need to focus on larger Dia piles to shorten the project execution timelines wherever these are possible. We are already finding that the projects are moving forward from standard 800-1200mm dia piles to 1500mm to 1800mm dia piles.
Apart from bored piles, the consultants need to evaluate other foundation technologies like CFA, soil displacement, soil mixing, stone columns depending on project soil strata as these technologies are already being successfully used in other parts of the developed world for more economical and faster execution.
Government must encourage consultants and project execution authorities to use more advanced, reliable and safe technology equipment and excavation methodology for faster and speedy project implementation.
