The Indian construction industry has undergone a significant growth with 17.1% rise recorded in 2021. The recent reforms, policies and initiatives by the Government has concocted a strong pipeline of infrastructure projects across various sectors furthering opportunities and growth projections. The increased inhouse consumption has not just opened the grounds for greater technological advancement but has also encouraged better development of local resources. This has positively affected the country’s capacity and potential to become a big player in the global market.

These global manufacturing hubs produce parts and machines for construction, surface mining and underground mining among others for export.
What are your company’s initiatives in skilling and training?
Consistent skill development and training are very crucial to the growth and enhancement of any organization. This is the key to sustainability. Epiroc regularly engages its stakeholders – employees, service engineers, partner engineers and distributors in trainings with the aim to elevate and expand their scope and skillset. We try to translate this at the society level as well through our CSR initiatives which involve rural and semi urban skill development especially for children and women and local skilled students to make them self-sufficient.
What are your future plans to cash-in the infrastructure boom in India?
We are very ambitious and optimistic about what the market has to offer in terms of opportunities and competition. Epiroc has zeroed down certain focus areas to channelize its efforts and resources like knowledge, augmentation of our network, employing the right people in right place, enhanced and efficient transport and logistics, optimized manufacturing capacity, digitalization, automation, best in the class products and robotics and infusing sustainability into daily operations and functions.
We plan to target new market segments such as infrastructure (rail, road, metro etc) and also strategic projects. We want to give products that give total solutions to our customers along with high performance, efficiency, and reliability. We believe that digitalization and automation in machines will be in demand and we are prepared to offer such machines for India’s infra development projects.
