This edition is powered by pioneering technologies and key partnerships in the construction ecosystem

Bhupinder Singh
CEO, bauma CONEXPO INDIA

How do you view the growth scenario of Indian construction equipment industry?

This industry is on an upswing owing to several factors like rapid pace of infrastructure development, mining, and urbanisation in the country today. This year the industry witnessed a 26% growth in equipment sales over FY23, including strong demand from export markets. This growth trajectory offers Indian manufacturers a significant opportunity for innovation and product diversification, but also presents certain challenges with respect to building a thriving ecosystem of component suppliers, skilled service providers, and future-ready R&D capabilities.

Therefore, as one of the leading trade fairs for the Indian industry, we are witnessing deepening relationships and expanding networks with equipment manufacturers and construction associations, not only from India but across the world. Some of our most important partnerships in the country include the Indian Construction Equipment Manufacturers Association (ICEMA), Builders Association of India (BAI), Construction Equipment Rental Association (CERA), Cranes Owners Association of India (COAOI), Construction Federation of India (CFI), and many more.

What are the existing opportunities for the Indian construction equipment industry?

India is already among the world’s top 5 equipment manufacturers, and the growing number of international construction projects being undertaken by Indian companies gives local manufacturers a competitive edge on the global landscape. Additionally, the increasing opportunities for automation-enabled, operator-friendly, and sustainable construction technologies can only be leveraged through win-win partnerships between buyer and supplier-side stakeholders.

This is the main advantage of a platform like bauma CONEXPO INDIA where stakeholders can not only experience tomorrow’s technologies today, but also engage in meaningful discussions for the growth and prosperity of the industry.

For example, in the run-up to the main show days in December this year, our team has embarked on an ambitious journey – Bharat Nirman Mahotsav – to 76 cities across the country beginning from Kanyakumari to the northern states and culminating at the venue in Greater Noida. This journey will mark 76 years of India’s independence and honour 2047 construction heroes who are contributing significantly towards Viksit Bharat. This initiative is aimed at reaching construction communities in the remotest parts of India

How is bauma CONEXPO INDIA providing a level playing field for Indian construction equipment industry in the global marketplace?

As an integral part of the global network of bauma trade fairs in Europe, Asia, and Latin America, bauma CONEXPO INDIA has emerged as an unmissable platform for both buyers and suppliers as it provides a breathtaking experience of next-generation construction technologies in action, insightful conferences, buyer-seller meetings, interactions with key government decisionmakers, live demo area, awards functions, networking events, and much more.

Attracted by India’s strong infrastructure growth potential, this upcoming edition will witness greater global participation with 1000+ Indian and international exhibitors spread across one million sq ft of exhibition space, and 75,000+ trade visitors expected from 100+ countries.

As India is fast becoming a global manufacturing hub, what is your vision on India becoming a superpower in construction equipment globally?

India’s emergence as a global manufacturing hub is driven in no small measure by the government’s push towards ecosystem localisation as well as aggressive development targets due to which we are seeing expanding opportunities for higher mechanisation and equipment automation. To leverage these opportunities, the industry needs to resolve some critical challenges such as import dependence of certain key components, the lack of trained and certified equipment operators, etc.

Therefore, as one of the leading trade fairs for this industry in India, our vision to is create a high-energy, inspirational platform where industry stakeholders can not only do business but also exchange ideas, unlock potential, and forge win-win partnerships to make the Indian ecosystem globally competitive.

According to you, what will be trending in future in the construction equipment market?

Digital technologies like AI, IoT and automation are transforming every industry, and construction equipment is on the threshold adopting these disruptive, transformative technologies. Add to this the complex nature of construction projects in India such as the building of tunnels and bridges in the Himalayas and highly challenging mining projects that impact the lives of communities around them. Therefore, there is no stopping the march of construction and mining technologies in the Indian ecosystem.

However, technical partnerships between equipment users and manufacturers are critical for innovative technologies to be developed, priced right, and delivered to the remotest regions of the country. Hence, we are proud to launch a series of 30+ technical sessions at our conferences, including the Quarry Forward conference, during bauma CONEXPO INDIA 2024. These conferences will focus on a range of subjects including equipment finance, telematics, automation, AI/IoT, skill development, sustainability, and much more.

We invite maximum participation from the construction and infrastructure ecosystem, both technology manufacturers as well as project experts, to benefit from the meaningful experiences that we have curated for you. Together, let’s make the Indian industry a shining example for the world!

(bauma CONEXPO India will be held on 11-14 December 2024 at the India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.)
