How do you perceive the upcoming trends in innovative technologies in the crushing segment? What leading role will Wirtgen be playing here?

The operation of crushing plants is becoming more and more complex due to the increasing requirements placed on modern crushing plants. At the same time, the technology must be reliable and as simple as possible to operate – and without lengthy instruction and familiarisation periods. Here comes the strong point of the new operating concept called SPECTIVE from Kleemann. With impressive range of functions and intuitive operation, it provides clear instructions and its self-explanatory symbols actively support the user in finding the right setting for each application.

The interface between man and machine allows us to use our crushing plants properly and fully utilise their capacities in a very easy way. SPECTIVE is characterised by the fact that only functions which are actually required are shown. With clear symbols all plant functions are recognisable at a glance and can be set and adjusted in a few steps. Simple menu guidance guarantees that only the information which is currently required is displayed on each page. Clear instructions actively support the user in the application, thus reducing operating errors significantly.

In addition, machine operation data can be retrieved via the touch panel and the diesel and lube oil fill levels, for example, can be viewed in the plant cockpit. The information is also documented. 

As the fuel prices keep going up, what sort of ‘feature upgrades’ you have brought into your range of crushers to increase the fuel efficiency? 

The Wirtgen Group Kleemann machines are the best in market, in terms of fuel efficiency.  The design of these machines and the fact that they are equipped with Scania engines are the two important factors which contribute towards fuel efficiency. We have fuel saving of at least 15%, compared to other machines in the same class. 

What is the current market scenario and going ahead, how do you expect the growth for the next five years?

The C & S industry has been growing at a rate of 15-20% in the last few years, primarily due to the numerous road projects awarded. The mining segment is still to move towards the growth path.

In the last couple of years, most of the growth in C & S has come from the road sector, and this trend will continue for next 2-3 years. Meanwhile we expect the mining and especially the iron ore segment to pick up – with the steel prices growing up in the last six months, we expect the demand to increase, which will revive the iron ore market. 

How do you assess the growth potential for static and wheeled / tracked plants from various sectors such as realty, rail corridors and irrigation projects?

The market globally has been shifting from wheeled / static plants to track mounted plants . We expect this trend to follow in India. The track plants are best suited where the crusher has to be moved for at least one or two times in a year and is ideal for use in road projects, rail corridors and irrigation projects. The biggest advantage being the contractor moving the machine to the site and start work immediately. Also shifting the machine is easy as no foundations or preparations are required.
