Putzmeister has been offering electric stationary concrete pumps, BSA 1404 E, BSA 1406 E and BSA 1408 E in India for over 10 years now. Equipped with an electric-powered motor, our customers have been using these concrete pumps successfully in tunneling and other special applications as well as in regular jobsites where electricity is available.

Globally, Putzmeister introduced a range of fully electric and hybrid products in 2022. The BSF iONTRON Hybrid, a plug and pump solution, is the world’s first emission free truck-mounted boom pump. So is the iONTRON eMixer, the first-of-its-kind 100% electric mixer.

The iONTRON makes it easy to work in an environmentally friendly manner: Simply unwind the cable, plug it in and utilise the power supply on the construction site. Machine operators only need to a brief instruction and can then connect the power supply themselves. Switching from the familiar diesel drive to electric mode is also very simple and can be done during operation. Simply press a button to utilise the full power of the electric motor – from the support configuration right through to pumping concrete. Depending on the local electricity mix, this makes it possible to reduce emissions by up to 100 per cent. Operating the truck-mounted concrete pump remains just as intuitive for the machine operator, whether the machine is running in diesel or electric mode.

The iONTRON eMixer is based on a SANY electric chassis and is 100% electrically powered. The battery charge of the iONTRON eMixer lasts a whole working day in urban areas – with around 5-6 tours! The innovative battery technology with a capacity of 350 kWh makes this possible. If more trips are planned, it can simply be charged in between. The mixer recovers its full power overnight by charging at a charging station.

On the market for electric construction equipment

With India’s active participation in the COP 28 meetings, and with increased sensitivity of global and several Indian businesses towards sustainability, greener equipment and processes, there will be a movement towards electric machines over the next few years.

Part of this shift will be economics driven and some will be policy/purpose driven. For select cases, where the application allows and the technology exists, the shift has already happened as in our wired electric driven stationary concrete pumps. Our customers buy these machines and enjoy much lower operating costs compared with the diesel run machines.
